ugh... water line and pump electrical got hit when they were digging the footers last night, so ended up coming uptown and staying at a hotel for the night. Should all be fixed today and should have some new stuff to take pictures of. For now... back to work...

Ouch that sucks

^ Yeah, it happens though. I figured something would occur at the beginning of the project since this is the hairy part. Once the foundation is poured and construction begins, it's all standard stuff... but no one knew what was under the dirt. House has been here a while, so it's always an adventure when starting something big. They had the plumbing fixed within an hour last night, so just need the electrician to come out and fix the wiring today and we should be good to go... and back on track

Damn you lost everything. Not that you could have used the cable anyways with the power being out.

Well cable had to reschedule for tomorrow morning. No biggie really since we watch TV using an OTA antenna, so I can watch the NCAA tourney in HD to hold me over . Should have internet back in the AM. Water and everything was working fine and was fixed before I even got home.
Got a few pictures from yesterday. I got home and no one was there, so snapped a few shots. Glad I did b/c they came back around 6pm and were there until 8:30p doing more digging and cutting up a corner of our patio to make room for the mud room footers. Hope to have pics of those tonight or tomorrow...
First two pics are the footers that have been dug. Kind of hard to see, but you can kind of make out the outline of the foundation. Other two pics are from the transformer move. You can see the hole where it was in the first pic, and the second pic shows it moved to its new spot further up the driveway.

And here are some pics from Friday evening. Footers were poured and foundation should be starting today. The last pic is where they ripped out a portion of our patio and that window will eventually be a door which will be the access to the mud room and garage...

Foundation was pretty much completed yesterday. Sorry for the crappy pics but it was getting dark and they were still working, so was trying to stay out of their way. First two pics are the garage from the driveway, then off fo the side. Next two pics show the mud room foundation, and the mud room with the garage behind it...

Senior Mods posting crappy pics what kind of sham are you running here
Awesome. This thing is progressing rather quickly. Seems like since you are not really finishing the interior space right away it should be done in about a months time almost.

It is moving pretty quick. We actually have a printed timeline and they are right on schedule. They should be inspecting the foundation today or tomorrow, then hopefully pouring the slab early next week. They were supposed to start framing next week, but that is going to get pushed back a few days since our main GC from the builder is going away... but after that we should get back on track. They are estimating mid-June completion...
The power company cut the cable line... so not much we can do there since we had to move the transformer. It was the builder's fault for hitting the water line and associate electrical, but they fixed it free of charge the next day. Since we stayed at a hotel that night, I'm going to get them to throw in 4 in-ceiling speakers and the control panel. We're actually meeting with the builder tomorrow to discuss progress and expectations for next steps... so we'll finalize that part then

The pics are fine. I would much rather have late night pics than no pics for sure. Just giving you are hard time.

^ Ha... I know. As they're working I'm like, they better hurry up... I need to snap pics in case they do more work tomorrow and it looks different
It is nice to have a daily (almost) record of the progress though. Something we can hang onto long after it's done...

^ Didn't really even think about it or ask since that's pretty much how they build around here except for basements... and some builders even build basements with block. Even our last house which had a 7' crawl (in the back) was all block foundation. The blocks are all filled with concrete and rebar... so they should be more then strong enough.

Also, met with the builder last night... should be on track time-wise, even with our lead going away next week. Dirt should be spread today, finished next week, foundation inspected by the engineer and town, and slab poured by the end of next week. Then, onto framing.
They are going to throw in 2 flood lights and 4 interior speakers as well for the inconvenience (and expense) of the night we had to stay at the hotel since the water was cut. So that worked out well

Nice that they will already be framing in basically a weeks time.
Awesome deal on getting the freebies/mistake correction things tossed in.

Entertaining project, I've wanted to do something similar for a while too but I don't have anywhere near the lot size you have for a possible garage build. Been thinking to just change my floors and picking up some car lifts instead.
Just saw your plans and looks like you've got everything covered. I particularly like the second floor living space on top of your garage. Any ideas on what type of flooring you'll be having on your floor? Would be cool if you added memorabilia too if you're into that kind of thing. Huge lot though, even looks like you could have accomodated 6 cars!
Looking forward to the rest of your build!

^ Yeah, we could have gone bigger. It actually was a bit bigger with a bump out for a full 4th car, but we axed it b/c of cost.
I actually do have some memorabilia in storage, so will be putting some stuff like that up as well as hanging some pedal cars, etc. Of course that will occur over time... but that's the plan. As for the flooring, leaning heavily towards RaceDeck tiles. I was going to do epoxy, but changed my mind as the RaceDeck can be done easily at any time, can be changed, removed, etc... so fairly sure that's the route I'll be going there...
