i am in the begging of building my home. I just wanted to see if anyone knew with the economy like this and homes prices going down, roughly how much does it cost to build a home in northern cali? by a contractor?

So far i been getting $150 sq. ft for a average home using average mid products.
And that could also be negotiated presumably since there is such little work for contractors these days.

 

That figure seems fairly reasonable, depending on size and complexity.

 

My dad is a project supervisor for a high-end construction company here in the Bay Area and they've got jobs lined up for years. I'm not sure how it is for other companies, but they're definitely not hurting!
