My First Home

Hoping to paint this weekend while we're snowed in from the storm, then flooring next weekend. Once that's done I can resume the rest of the basement and will post more pics. Still have to finish the insulation, and A/V wiring before I can start hanging rock in the main area.
Appreciate all the compliments everyone!
Thanks!
Looks like I'll be ahead of my April 1st deadline for the gym.....
After finishing the rock, I've started painting and decided on going with something radically different for the gym. A 'Mandarin Orange' for 2 walls, and some shade of white or very light grey for the other two walls. Haven't settled on the white/light grey yet, but hope to find one I like tomorrow.
This Sunday I'm going to pick up the 3/4" rubber flooring, then finish with white trim, and lastly the fun part: TV, treadmill, 260 lbs of bumper plates, squat rack, and kettle bells.

Flooring down! Took me a while since my buddy wasn't available to help move them from the garage down to the basement. The mats are the same kind that you see in most gyms, 3/4" thick 6'x4' rubber composite and they weight 100 lbs. Only way I could get them down stairs was to roll them up and use 48" zip ties to keep them in a form that could be picked up.
All the seams fit flawlessly together which surprised me, and best of all I save a ton of money by getting them at Tractor Supply. The same mats sold as gym mats online are $90 each plus shipping, or Tractor Supply sells them as horse stall mats for $40 each.
Besides mopping the footprints off, I have to finish the electric, pick out and install the trim, buy a new TV, TV mount, treadmill, 260 lbs in bumper plates, mens bar, and squat rack.

Thanks Whiskers
I would imagine that since they are not sealed to repel oil or other leaks that it's probably not a good idea. Here's the link to the same mats online and it states in the maintenance section to avoid oil on the mats as it can break them down over time.

I'd like to make it to one of the local meets, but I've been swamped with work and preparing for little Devil Dog to get here.

that will be bad ass !!! and am sorry, dont know why i said he....I have always wanted a baby girl...I am going to spoil her (i know that)....
any updates on the basement?
All the outlets are installed with the exception of one on the wall that is for ethernet and coax. I put in a double gang box so that I have easier access to the conduit but underestimated how difficult it is to find a 2 gang wall plate with interchangeable ports like this: http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2
Now I have to decide if I want to spend a couple hundred bucks and put a cheap TV on the wall, or spend around $600 and put a good TV in the bedroom and bring the 42" 720P Plasma down into workout room.
Once I do my taxes and see how much I'm paying Uncle Sam, I'll place the order for equipment

Your easiest be would be a dual gang decora plate with decora snap in inserts. You can get single, double, triple, quad up to 8 port inserts. So you could have up to 16 keystone jacks in your two gang plate
That's Acura Dude
You can of course get the inserts online:
Are you looking for the actual snap-ins or just the decora inserts?
Home Depot and Lowes may have them. They don't always show on their site, but will typically have some in the stores.
You can of course get the inserts online:

Thanks for the help.
Been 7 months since I had any updates and this little girl is the reason why.

I also decided that I needed more space for my gym, so I decided to become a partial owner in a local CrossFit gym. We're growing extremely quick and I'm spending more time growing this business than I am working on my basement. I plan on getting back into the basement this winter.

Thx!
The wife wanted nothing to do with a pink room. I was a little hesitant on the peach and taupe, but I've learned not to enter into a decorating debate with a woman.
Crossfit.. it's a cult

Congrats on the little one
Love the room too
My buddy did a similar setup in his little tyke's room. He has textured walls so the vinyl overlay doesn't look as good. Suggested he just paint over it.

Appreciate it!
Yea, we're a little bit into getting strong, fast, and ripped.
I could see how the vinyl wouldn't look great on a textured wall. It was a pain in the ass to get it smooth on a flat wall.

I wonder if the rubber mats would work in a garage setting.
