That's a nice table, but the best thing about it, no legs.

Thanks guys. We're enjoying it so far. I just need to figure out what to do if someone spills some red wine at one of our get togethers...

That looks like a very nice dining room set!

If the chairs are cloth, perhaps you can Scotch Guard them?

I have a little update on the condo.

Haven't done much lately. The wife just got a new job so we decided to update a few things. I bought a new bathroom vanity last week and we just put in an order for all new kitchen cabinets yesterday. They should arrive in about 4 weeks.

I will try to pick out a granite counter top and tile this weekend and start taking everything off next weekend. I will of course be updating with pictures.

Very excited about the new kitchen. Lowe's had a sale. Got $400 off, free kitchen sink base and free soft close for all the drawers.

We also have very cool organizing things and roll out shelves, and all that jazz with the new cabinets. It's going to be much more functional. Our current kitchen is dark, old, disgusting and very useless.

We changed the plan a little bit as well, will be moving the refrigerator to the back of the kitchen. I'll try to update with some plans.

^I, also cannot wait to see what I do to my kitchen

There's a home improvement show this weekend that I will attend. I hope I find a counter top soon so I can pick out back splash and tile.

If you ever upgrade your couch, can I have the old one?
Seriously though, you've made a hell of a lot of progress. In for pics of the kitchen

^Ha. Took me forever to find that couch. Looked at every furniture store in Milwaukee and ended up buying it in Chicago.

I think we picked out the counter top last night. Instead of doing a slab of granite (~$1000), we will do granite tile (~$350).

We're also very close on making a decision on the tile, but wanted to wait until we bought a counter top. Found a smoking deal on clearance at $.68/tile.

I'm getting the itch to get started but might have to work on the bathroom first.

Got granite tile last night! Looking at floor tile at one more place tonight and then will make a purchase. Picked out a back drop last night too. I will update some pre-start pictures this weekend.

Looking forward to see the change in the kitchen, especially since I am going through something similar now. Not sure how I missed your thread before. Nice work and a big change. I like your choice of a TV bracket. It's a Sanus VMPL50 or VMPL250, depending on whether its a tilt mount or flush mount bracket. They are my go to brackets. Love the table top on your dining room set. Very elegant. The only thing I spotted that I hate is the Harmony. Ugh.

Yup, that is texture. Always been there. The part with no texture is actually where the mirror is hung up.

Allright I finally have some pictures to show. Starting on the project next weekend but have purchased quite a few supplies.

Here is the kitchen as it is right now.

Here are the plans for the new kitchen. We are moving the refrigerator to the back of the kitchen to open it up and we're hanging the microwave.

Here are the new cabinets that we ordered. All the cabinets have roll outs and we will have smart stop on the drawers.

This is going to be part of the back splash. We'll have a line halfway through going all around 2 squares wide

Granite tile for the counter top

Tile for the floor

Stress to the floor

I'm excited to get started. Hopefully everything goes according to plan and I hope to finish within a few weeks working mostly on weekends.

I'll update some bathroom stuff soon as well. Still trying to figure out what we're going to do there but I've had the new vanity for a few weeks already.

Can't wait to see the kitchen when it's done. Good luck! One thing though, will moving the oven down make it hard to access the socket for it? Like would it be behind one of the new cabinets?

I will have an electrician out in 2 weeks. Putting in 4 recessed lights and lights for under the cabinet. He will also make sure the oven and microwave will be wired properly and change all the kitchen sockets. He is a good friend of my dads and did all of our lights when we bought the place.

The texture is pretty uneven but I actually kind of like it.
I'm excited to see what the back splash will look like. I will be getting the rest of the tile this week.

We smoke hookah once in a while. Some friends of ours own a middle eastern restaurant and I got hooked on it. It also helped me a lot when I quit smoking cigarettes.

Started demoing this morning! Went much faster than I thought. My brother in law helped me out, we took out almost the entire kitchen in about 2 hours. We cleaned out all the cabinets last night.

So far so good. I'm leaving one wall for now so we can still have use of the sink for the week. Next Sat morning, that's going and we will start to lay tile. Thankfully the linoleum hasn't been too much of an issue, I should be able to rip it all out.

On to the pics.

And here's how the kitchen will sit for the next week.

Nice. I have to tell you, right now I am pretty damn jealous at the size of your kitchen. Can't wait to see it finished.

For right now, the range and the fridge are still hooked up. I've got until Friday with the range, then a week without which will probably include a lot of turkey sandwiches.

And I have a George foreman and an electric griddle. Should be ok

I can't wait till it's finished too. It is definitely a smaller kitchen, which makes us even more excited about the new cabinets with all the roll outs. It will be much more functional. Had a good tome demoing today.

Are you changing the color of the walls or keeping it the same?

We just painted a year and a half ago and it's the same color as the dining room so we will keep it the same color. But to be honest it doesn't even really matter since there will be backsplash. The only thing with color is the wall in te back.

I'm starting to get pumped up!

This week, I purchased a new microwave and a Kohler sink (Heavy as hell). I will pulling out the rest of my cabinets tonight. If I have time, I will also clean up the walls and throw a coat of paint on while everything's out so it has the night to dry. I'm hoping the electrician comes tomorrow morning so we can put in the new lights and I will try to lay tile tomorrow afternoon/Sunday morning.

Plans for the weekend:

Paint
Electric
Tile

Once all of that is completed, I just have to wait for the cabinets to arrive. I don't want to do the wall tile until they are installed....well maybe I'll measure it out, might be easier.

I've never done tile before, looking forward to the challenge. So far from what I've read/seen, it doesn't look too bad.

Also need to start building the counter top...need to pick up some plywood and start piecing it together so that it's ready in time.

Allright...the weekend is over and paint and electric didn't happen.

Bought everything for electrical work and I prepped the kitchen for paint.

My uncle came over this morning and installed the tile. He is very good at it so I figured I'd let him do it...all I did was cut up some of the tile.

I have a plumber coming tomorrow to see what the options are and will grout this week as well. Hopefully the electrician comes out sometime this week as well. I don't want to paint until we're done with electric work since we'll be changing some of the outlets to add light switches for the lights under the cabinets.

On to the pics:

Well the cabinets are coming tomorrow. I'm and at the same time. I kind of wish they wouldn't come for another week as I have no place to put them. I guess I'll have to make space.

Have a couple updates but no pics. The plumbing got done yesterday and I had a new sink installed in my laundry room. I also only used to have one shut off valve for the entire condo, now I have one in the laundry room and one in the kitchen so that will make things a little easier.

I got home early yesterday and met my dad's friend who is an electrician. We put in 5 recessed lights in the kitchen and started working on the under-cabinet lights. We also installed an outlet for the garbage disposal and the dishwasher (new code).

Working on more electrical today and Saturday, hoping to finish that off. Then we will paint the kitchen Saturday afternoon/night and lay grout Sunday morning. We'll stay out of the kitchen after that for at least 24 hours and then start installing cabinets.

2 more weeks and this project should be finished I can't wait to have a normal life again.

Didn't go to work today.

Finished most of the electric stuff last night and sealed up the hole in the middle of the ceiling. I painted the kitchen a couple hours ago and the cabinets just got delivered.

Now I'm just waiting around until I can paint the ceiling.

Pics:

New plug for the dishwasher and the disposal

Wires ran for lights under the cabinets

Moved the plug for the range

Tonight, going to grout the tile and tomorrow we being installing the cabinets. It's going to be a while yet before we start & finish the counter top and the back splash but if we can get cabinets in, we can start putting some of this crap in them.

Coming along nicely. I am nowhere near that close with our project. It's funny, the granite guy called to say the counter top was all set. We told him we would be at best a month out. I haven't had any time to get down there this past week. Business was super slow leading up to the beginning of the project. As soon as we got everything ripped out, and I got a couple doors made, I got slammed with work. I still don't know how I am going to find the time to finish it all, and I still have a TON of work to do on the kitchen. If you are bored when you finish and you want to take a nice vacation to Connecticut, I have another kitchen for you to finish :-)

Haha, no thanks! After we finish this, I'm looking for a vacation in Mexico or Punta Cana for sometime in May.

I have a few updates. Since the cabinets came so quickly, everything was kind of put into overdrive.

iphone pics this time - didn't even really have enough time to look for the camera.

I painted the kitchen on Friday and grouted the floor.

In the morning (Saturday)

And here was Saturday during the day:

This is the cool cabinet (We only got one, the rest just have two roll out shelves):

Going to the auto show this morning and then we start back up. My uncle is coming back and we're going to prepare the counter top for tile. We will install the ply wood, put on cement blocks and get everything ready.

Remaining work: Granite tile counter top, back splash and install sink/faucet/dishwasher/disposal.

And some patching up work here and there, a little painting.
