I got a house!
Thanks in part to the wonderful help from a bunch of smart members in the Money & Investing forum, I received word tonight that I've won the bid for a new home!
It's an 85-year Colonial in a very nice section within the city that I got for a bargain price after 2 days on the market.
I'm psyched.
Here is a collection of really crappy photos taken from the Real Estate MLS. It's in need of some tuning up, I know...
First thing to go is that horrid black and white floor! Thank god my girlfriend's dad is a stone cutter!

Nice. COngrats
@ Tune-up on the house.
Good luck, with a little work, that place will look like a million bucks.
YOur girlfriends dad does stone cutting? Whats the name of his place. I will ask a family friend if he knows him. He does custom glass work as well as stone cutting.

Looks great. The inside looks awesome already... the outside needs a lil fixin' up... like that HUGE tree right up against the house.
I'm jealous... hope to be a homeowner in another 18 months or so.

no way... that tree stays! i love trees.
i'll probably have it trimmed, but one of my favorite parts of the house was how many big old trees and shrubs there are around.
that's why i hate new homes, such plain landscaping.

The pic just makes it look like the tree is right up against the house touching the siding.

the house is on a corner, the garage is around the corner from teh front door.
it wasn't a forclosure, just a normal sale

I feel the need...
I'm seeing a little Thomas Kinkade in the 4th pic of stairs to the backyard garden.
Congrats - keep the trees, I love'm too, one big reason why I bought my current home.

the house is on a slight hill, so raised well above the street. the basement is actually at street level but, obviosuly, below ground.
the garage is on the side of the house and sunken into the hill so it's not all glaring and in your face (garages are fugly).
garage is heated too...
