Looks great, nice size too. Inside looks pretty nice for 85 yr old! Love the wood floors.
Good Deal!

Beautiful House, thats the only reason I would ever live up north those houses have a lot of history and character. Down here all the houses are prefab or in crappy locations. Make sure you take pics of the house with that bad ass sony cam of yours.

You'll get used to writing checks. Deposit, home inspection, appraisal....
And you'll probably have to sign your name about 50 times during the closing...

Soopa, congrats. That's a sturdy, basic, cleanly laid out place, that has gone through its shakedown cruise decades ago.
You may not like the floor in the kitchen, but the cabinets are, by now, "retro' and if they're in good shape, I'd keep 'em.
If you really want to get into fussing with the place, there is a great vendor for reproduction hardware and light fixtures http://www.rejuvenation.com/?ipb=GA1017 that started, orginally, to support the restoration of the huge nubmer of "bungalows" out on the west coast in older established neighborhoods in Portland and Seattle. Their original line was pretty modest, but they've enjoyed great success in the last decade or so, and their line has expanded a great deal. They now carry all kinds of light fixtures, hardware and stuff that would be "authentic" to the original period of the house, if you get into that. Their prices are, for quality, rather good - much cheaper than some of the other sources out there. If you have a licenced contractor or architect who works on the house, they provide a 10% discount, not much, but it covers the shipping, generally.
BTW, in the realm of worthless information - garages were built independenly of houses up until the era of the "carport", even in very cold climates - at first, it was a vestige of the separation of house and stable, and then it was a safety factor in terms of fire and odor.
My guess is that you got the place at a very fair price because some elements may need repair, and that is 'below' the standard for that neighborhood. As you renovate and fluff the house up, your growth of equity may well be disproportionate to the money you put in, which is a great thing. And yep, I see a good tree surgeon as your best friend in the near future..............

Congratulations…
Nice place Adam. Glad you finally had an offer accepted.
Now it’s time to get real handy with the “Do it yourself” stuff.
If you call in the pro’s for every little problem you will go broke in no time and piss away all your equity.
Learning to fix stuff yourself is much more rewarding.
I stay away from the big stuff like HVAC and major appliances, but will tackle almost everything else in the home.
I hope there’s a Lowe’s or Home Depot nearby.
