If I were you, I would ensure that I not sign an exculsive buyer agents deal with a Foxtons agent.

I don't have anything against those houses, but you should consider selecting a buyer agent from a normal real estate agent.

It is much better to be able to shop www.realtor.com than www.foxtons.com. Many more houses.

Once you get a buyer agent, you should discuss with him/her how she feels about showing Foxtons homes. Many will not want to do this. If this is the case you need to get in writing that you are able to go look at these houses yourself and that if you buy one they can't have any beef about that. Just like if you were to find a for sale by owner house that you like.

Good luck in your search.

NJ has the most over-inflated housing prices of any given state. Overall we're at least 10% over what we should be paying for houses in NJ.

I was just looking at the houses and realized how small they were for the money. Do you have any other options besides here?

If they are all the same money and all the same area, then I would go with #1 or #3.

Well at least the property taxes in the Old Bridge area will be a lot less than up where i live about 10 miles from NYC. I'm up to almost $8000 for a 1700 sq. ft townhouse. The one good thing is that I could sell now and make a huge profit.

Basically, the farther you are away from the city, the more you will get for your money.

Good luck!

Have you looked into the Edison or Union area? There are some nice places down there.

That's not really true. There are some parts of NJ where you can still find decent priced houses.

We bought this one in Egg Harbor (southern Jersey) and we sold it for $490K just recently. That may seem very high but a house like that in central and north Jersey would easily cross the half million mark.

If you're restricting yourself to those four, I would at least eliminate the third one. The plan shows one entering directly into the living room, which makes the living room a giant mud room and corridor; NJ winters are not that gracious, and having a blast of cold air enter the room when you're throwing a party in the middle of the winter ain't that great.

Hey I considered that area but where might you work? Besides the casino there ain't shit down there. Wonder why the prices are sooo reasonable?

It's over 50 miles from Philly and the commute will kill you - 42 to the WW bridge

LOL, that's why we sold it. The price was so tempting (that house was $370K without options; you can't even find a house that size up in central Jersey for anything less than half a million), so we figured it was time to move, our house was in need of a few repairs anyways. But you're right about the job situation...you can either work in the casinos or go way out of town to get decent paying jobs. That's not why we're leaving though; I didn't mind the commute. Life is different down there - it's not country south, but you can definitely feel the difference if you grew up in central jersey. I'm used to having shops and local restaurants around the corner - down there, you pretty much drive everywhere. The nightlife is Atlantic City and believe it or not that gets boring real quick too.
