Extension Cords
Extension Cords
I picked up a gas generator and need a bunch of extension cords for the various items I'd power during an outage; sump pump, freezer, box fans, etc...
I need them to be LONG, probably 100 ft to get them into the basement, etc. Where's the cheapest place to pick these things up and how much am I looking at per cord? I was thinking ebay, where 100' 12 gauge will run me about $50 each. A small investment, the way I look at it.
Is ebay the best place to look? Any other sources?

Costco ftw. 100ft for $29 bucks.
Picked one up for the LED lights on an outside Christmas tree.
BTW, did you by chance take a look at the natural gas powered generator that you can hook up into your existing electrical? No need for teh cords.

Don't go cheap, if you are in the middle of an outage power cord problems are the last thing you need.
Go to Homley Depot or Slowes and get some 12 gauge cord and ends and make them yourself. This way you can cut to fit.

I'll have to check out Costco. I can do $29.
I would get a hook up so you can plug your fuse panel into it (they make them for gas gens like you have). Then flip the main breaker and all the ones in the panel you dont need and just leave the ones you do (like sump and fridge) It would be alot easier than running cords to every thing

Its basically just a outlet that hooks up to the fuse panel that the gen gives power too. You just need large enough gauge wire to supply the power to.
