entry doors

we have a house that is only 7 years old.
we have an entry door with the windows on the sides. the door is not very efficient and lets in a decent amount of cold air.
we are only planning t stay in this house for 4 or 5 years or so.
1. is it worth it to replace the door
2 will it really add much value in a neighborhood where the average house is 160k
3 what kind of door can we buy that will be pretty inexpensive and have good value?

Have you tried some caulk or perhaps some weatherstripping? I got some of the 3M stripping stuff for the windows and it made a big difference.

When you say windows on the side, are the windows on the door or something like this: (where there are windows on the side panels.

Im not sure how much value a new door would add to any house. Like someone suggested, try caulking where cold air is coming in.

Another Option is to get a solid wood door or an insulated door. Try Home Depot for fair pricing? As for the window panels on the side (if thats what you have) maybe put in some wood paneling in place of those.

You can get a decent door for pretty cheap at Home Depot or Lowe's. If all you're doing is replacing the door itself, it's easy, and they have many options. We actually saw one we were thinking about getting that happened to match our sidelights... and it was only around $350 and was already "stained" and was made of fiberglass.

^ Ahh... that can get pricey then, even from HD or Lowe's. May want to try the suggestions above regarding weatherstripping, etc...
