Direct Wire light

All - I am going to be hanging a direct-wire type light and grabbing the power from the outlet down below - what gauge wire would be best to use do you think? 16? 14?

Thanks!

I assume it's a 15amp circuit? 14 gauge for 15A. 12 gauge for 20A.

Yeah I used 14 gauge when I wired up my ceiling fans in each bedroom. Each one I wired to the switch which was wired to the outlet below.

Are you having trouble determining what gauge the current wire that you're tapping into is?
