cordless screwdriver

Hi,

I have a Black and Decker 3.6 VersaPak VP750. The battery doesn't seem to hold the charge too long. Every time I want to use it, it need to be charged for hours before I can use it.

So, I can either buy another battery or another screwdriver all together.

The battery alone is $12 (silver) or $15 (gold). seem K-i-n-d-a expensive.

I was in HomeDepot and saw the Skil IXO2 3.6 with an internal Li-ion battery that they claimed that it could hold the charge for 18 months.

Do you guys have any opinion on this Skil? I like the smaller size but how does it stack up with other 3.6v in this class?

Another person looking for a recommendation My B&D also died. I don't even think I can get a replacement battery for it. It's old and not a versa pack.

I want something that has a long run time.

Why not just get a Ryobi Drill with the 18v Battery that will fit a variety of things?

The drill is too big as a screw driver. I fix computer for living. I need something small and easy to carry.

This one looks great. It is the same Li-ion battery one but for only $15.

maybe I will go give it a try.

Doesn't look too bad. If it is, you're only out $15.

Depending on what you're looking to do with it. I use my Firestorm for things around the house. I've had it for a couple years. Haven't really found a problem with it yet when used as a drill/driver. It's one of those multi tools. The sander seems to eat through the charge. But other than that, it's been really good. I think you can get the drill/driver part for about $80 to $100.

It's not too expensive and it's a 14.4V. I think you can get it as an 18V.

I have the Sears' 19.2V combo set. (their battery sucks! the set is not expensive though. So it is ok I guess) But they are too big for things like taking apart VCR, DVD player, radio, bathroom heater, fan, etc.

I usually use my B&D cordless screw driver to loosen the screws and then I use it manually to screw the screws back by hand.

I like the size of the Skil iXO2 but the handle is in an angle. That is no good if I want to use it to put the screw back.

I ended up getting another B&D at the HD. I've used it a few times and I like it. It was only $20. Has good power, and the handle can be bent for tight corners.

Everything else started at $40 and up. Some were over $100. For the amount of use I need out of it $20 is fine and if I need to replace it every 5-10 years, that's okay.
