Just bought a new crapper; no more on the floor, little round, penis touching the front bowl for the converted garage. Sadly, wife vetoed the Toto golf ball sucking and butt spraying version but...

AZ, home of the dick touching
Ready for cement, inspections are taking forever but should be pouring this week. On another note, GC came by tonight and saw me washing the wife's car in the dark, sweating my ass off. He asked if I worked in an office and followed up with, 'I've never seen an office guy work so much and it doesn't even look crappy, it looks good.' Hahaha

So....room is still NOT finished. Contractor is blaming the city, city blames him. Basically, they need to tear the shower out to inspect the plumbing, something I asked about at the start and our GC said not to worry about it
Later shower

Got a hot tub, added a plastic "wood" floor instead of pavers, added some lights above and ordered some outdoor curtains to finish it off (4 sets to bunch up in the corners, need to figure out what to do for rods)
I1Xz7Gr.jpg
Don't love the stairs, I'll probably ditch them and add a small palm
xvLaEuW.jpg
Bought a few more Z wave dimmers through out the house and an LED color changing pool light
r656whV.jpg
Picked up a 4K 60", dogs are happy
z0EmWdo.jpg
Painted the bath, behind the bar, and converted our old Pottery Barn island into a "bar." I think I'm going to add a Z wave color changing tape light under or above the shelf, not sure.

Fence diamond ivy is growing
fzGMAsV.jpg
Also, picked up 8 solar pool heater panels today, on the roof they go!
Other plan is to extend the back fence 15 feet and add some grass, eating area, and outdoor TV.

Doom - Not sure because it was here when we bought the house and they are just tearing it up to get it up to code. I think the GC knows so if he ever shows back up, I'll ask him
Marcelechka - I'll grab some pics once I start putting them in. They keep claiming they are going to pour cement so I don't want to tear the pavers and such up to run lines, on the off chance they show.

Spent all day yesterday, making some curtain rods out of metal conduit, came out pretty well. Now we need to fill that back wall with something and I think this "room' is finished.

Tie backs I made from some rope, just needed my wife to teach me to braid the small "hooks" used to hold it back

Also, started to change some of our cans out to this once pieces. It looks much cleaner, just wish I knew about them before buying a million LEDS bulbs

I got those outdoor retrofit LED's from Feit. They work fine. Bugs got into the housing and died on the lens and there's no way to get them out. I had read somewhere that bugs are not attracted to LED light, but that is not the case.

You can get the LED retros from the box stores, Amazon, etc. As for the bugs, I think bugs are always attracted to light but didn't think they could get in there, hmmm

I posted a Torchstar, which seem to get great reviews but they all look very similar. For the install at my place, I pulled the old bulb, pulled the trim ring, then screwed in the new flush LED lead, then popped the housing in; nice, clean, and easy.

$6,000
GC found, as I expected and he didn't, that the plumbing needed to be inspected. They cut the concrete up only to find the plumbing was 2" not 3" and the shower needs to be torn out for the shower pan inspection. I need to pay for the shower rebuild but ok, not the end of the world. On top of that, to replace the pipe, the plumber wants $6k and said it costs $2,500 to do a change of contractor, which I think is horse shit. Checking with the city in the morning to see if this is true to ditch his ass.

I keep thinking this room will be done and can post a final update but progress is painfully slow. The roof started to leak, which halted progress on the room. In order to fix it, they need two days of no rain but being Summer in Florida, we haven't had a clear forecast. In doing the roof, we figured we might as well go all out and have arranged to have an 8 kW solar system installed next month. I hope to be able to squeeze the solar pool heater panels up there as well, seeing how I have the controller, panels, etc but we shall see.
Once of the two AC's has been replaced, waiting on the other still.
Plumbing was fixed and cement poured
OBXjjwv.jpg
Cement done, framing and drywall started (drywall is now done, minus the ceiling because the water from the roof ruined it)
gIveZtn.jpg
Tile almost finished but we are short a box and they can't find more
GAKDbwW.jpg
Shower is getting there.....Floor matches better than it appears in the picture but it's marble so kind of slick but happy wife...

Made a mess running 4 cameras but came out great. I was drilling forever with a regular drill so I went to grab the GC's hammer drill when I noticed he had a rotary he left as well, took 10 seconds to drill 18 inches of block. I also went ahead and ran an extra Cat 6 to relocate the modem to my office, wifi for the whole house now and no extenders. Also went ahead and added a Ring Doorbell because the security cams motion detection was too sensitive, Ring is awesome.

Been bored while waiting on the roof so while I want to buy an outdoor couch, I don't want to have it outside in the open. Seeing how the HOA is being a bag of dicks, this cheap set that was meant to last 6 months, is going to have to last longer. The cushions were super crappy so I bought some new ones, only to find that the chair itself, looked like shit. I was worried about the durability of painting them but found chalk paint held up pretty well so chalk paint it is. I think they came out pretty well and this little pergola, will give us some shade until aforementioned bag of dicks, let us build a freaking fence behind our house.

After, back cushion is too big but...

Still waiting on some cushions to arrive. All the shit in the background is courtesy of the GC...

Construction is finally done (minus a few little things).
Bedroom - going to pick up a ceiling fan today and get rid of the standing fan. We ordered throw pillows and a new comforter along with getting rid of the 10 pound Purple saggy ass pillows so this is a temp messy look
Q9jf9T5.jpg
Almost finished the closet, need some more shelves and some crown molding plus some organization. We both put a little bit of stuff in this closet but I rather my wife just take it over and we stay separate so we shall see. Also just ordered a nice light for in here.
ykaimJ0.jpg
1vobyDl.jpg
Terrible picture of our bathroom and the new makeup mirror I hung, SO much better than the one on the counter my wife had
zYbA2cy.jpg
Laundry: next project is to add some upper cabinets, drying racks, counter, and a pull out hamper between the units to clean this mess up.
zG1FwPl.jpg
Mess of contractor stuff and that door needs to be hung. The main problem is that we have no place for a TV so I just ordered a BenQ projector and I think I'm going to put a drop down in the ceiling, in front of the closet but not 100% sure, any ideas?
3WOSQvp.jpg
Ecobee4 with Alexa. I really like this thing BUT it doesn't have ESP so both the Echo and this will pick up when you say Alexa. I went ahead and changed the Echo's wake word to "Echo" so not too bad but I hope they fix that issue and yes, this room is hot.

Home Theater!
Now that our master is done, my wife wanted a TV but there are no real walls to put it on so I got to thinking. I personally, don't watch much TV in bed but it seemed like a perfect excuse for a projector! I went with a relatively inexpensive Ben Q 1080P 3D DLP, powered 100" screen, 5 - 8 inch speakers, and an Onkyo receiver.
I was going to hang the projector on the ceiling so I got a white one to blend in but the wife axed the hanging so I came up with a new idea and bought this bench. I was going to use my ceiling mount under the bench but when I flipped the projector over to mount it, the image angled down so much that it was unusable so I created this shelf. My wife is gone for a week and a half so her throw pillows are gone too Still need to finish sanding and painting the wall from running wires behind the bed in the upper corner. I also have one last support on the shelf to trim down but I need another hack saw blade. Smoke alarm is also coming down when I paint and I'm going to replace it was a Nest and either in line with the center channel or somewhere else in the room.
K1CHq0C.jpg
You can see the two rear surrounds in the pic above and I'm sure you're saying, WTH did you go with in ceiling speakers, they are terrible for surround sound. In thinking that, you would be correct they are terrible but I've learned that in wall or worse, standing speakers are terrible for keeping a marriage going...Basically, it was this or the 10 watt built in projector speaker. Luckily, the receiver has a mic that tried its best to maximize the sound stage and the tweeters are angled towards the bed.
The other thing I learned is that there's a random beam that goes right down the center of the room, right where I cut the center speaker out. There's no attic access here so I mapped the ferring strips and beams but wasn't expecting the center one so I had to fill that hole. I filled it just fine and used what I thought was the leftover ceiling paint but....it wasn't so I need to repaint the whole ceiling
I'm going to use this for a bit and assuming we still like it, I'm going to buy a recessed, flush mount drop down screen so we don't have that ugly thing hanging down.
75LcXbo.jpg
Mistake and the string was to keep it all lined up and yes, I pulled it tighter
ZKG9TON.jpg
Crappy pic of the screen down that really highlights the mismatched paint
qizR5gZ.jpg
Nice plate I found on Amazon that hides behind the bed. I didn't get a sub because I was told they are ugly but I wired one in the wall so....

Over kill for a bedroom, yea but...
Oh, I suck with pics.

I think the setup is pretty sweet
My only concern would be the heat and ventilation of that projector..
