Condo Conversion to the extreme
Condo Conversion to the extreme
To cut a very long story short, in the process of buying another 3/2 condo, a very close friend back in the UK wants to try something very different with the company he's partners with. I want to see him succeed and I know they have something very different that will interest alot of people here in the US.
If everything works out, by Novemeber the conversion will start. I must be nuts..
For more pictures of how it will look like, go to the below link.

Awesome. Needs a little something though. Check out the stuff from Pedini, they have a very similar style... but looks a little bit better.
I love the light placement, up the walls and throught the floors... never would of thought of that!
Going to be one pimp pad.

Actually the place is nice but I can see how it might look dated in ten or fifteen years.
Hehe, yeah, Miami Vice is exactly what I pictured. The "super modern" style was later 80s/90s. Most kitchens these days have taken that style and meshed it with more natural materials and traditional themes.
Pedini, like I mentioned earlier, for instance....

They take the ol' white/glass/steel and mix it with a little wood to give it a more up to date appearance. I'd concede though, even this will look dated eventually.
I think key is to take a cue from the design and mesh it with some of the more timeless styles that have been considered "pimp" since 800 BC through today.

it's nice but i prefer the pic soopa posted if it were a primary residence. the first pics look a little too much like a night club or something. not sure i could feel at home there. it is certainlly amazing to look at though and it'd be a nice place to stay every now and then for sure.
Yeah, personally its not my 1st chioce of interior designs but with other postive factors and the fact i'm buying the Condo from a Probate and getting a good deal, to me its not that much of a risk.
The 1st picture i saw reminded me of Miami Vice theme too lol, with the style going out of date i'm not to conerned as it will be located in Miami and not much has changed here in 20 years or so, its not like the Condo is in Oklahoma but in any event, i don't see myself keeping it for more then a few years even if that. When i lived in Ireland and England i've always lived in large houses. But for now its just myself and the cat, along with the GFs here and there.
The above pictures are just an example of how it will look, there have been some improvements made on paper that are going to give it a most cosy feel rather than a big empty space full of LEDs.
After all if i'm going to live it in, i want it to feel like a home not a night club, well ok just alittle lol
With the way things are looking the Home improvement channel will probably do something on the conversion and 1 or 2 other cable channels interested to from what i'm told, so it makes it all that more interesting, I believe its a worth while project, its something you dont see everyday and i'll have one of London's best interior designers working on it while helping out a good friend who once helped me when i was doing my flight training in England.

I think it looks horrible. By going soo far off the conventional and traditional models you really reduce the re-sell ability of the place. While I am not saying that you will not get a buyer I could see a lot of disinterest from the average joe looking for a condo. In my opinion if you planned on living there for a long time it would make sense since you are totally going for a look you like, if you are thinking of turning it over in a year or two I don't think you would get your $$ back. I forget the rule about improvements but i believe it's something like 'dont outclass your neighbors by X%. Now, for a rental property I could definitely see some bachelor guy picking up that place for pussy.

Great kitchen to walk into at 2:00 AM to find the gin, the glasses and the bottled olives while a lovely lissome lady wearing a slinky red thing cut to the thigh undulates into the kitchen behnd you...... to "help". It's a great stageset kitchen, and it will find a market, especially in Florida. But - I wouldn't want to prep food for a major dinner party there, or have folks running around in there while I was cooking - er - doing surgery..... too cold, harsh on the eyes.
And, for whatever it's worth, that much white will bleach out the color of food -
