We had a Beam installed when we built the house. My wife loves it and it does seem to make the process go a lot faster. Been using it for 5 years without any issues.

When planning for it we figured that if we bought the longer hose so we could limit the number of outlets. I have 4 connections in a 3500 sq ft house plus one in the garage and a floor sweep in the mudroom (use a broom).

Go for it!

Why did you want to limit the outlets? Our house already had a system so we didn't get to pick but we have 9 outlets and it works swell.

Dragging the hose around seems to be a pain in the neck.

It's actually not too bad when you have enough outlets since that way your hoses wont have to be really long in order to reach everywhere.

stay away from Nutone; had some issues with the system

and make sure you have outlets close to the hose connection...

While there was a cost related to each additional outlet, the real issue was the open layout of the floorplan provided a very limited number of walls in which to place outlets, plumbing, wiring etc.

The long hose isn't a hassle at all, you can just keep moving until you run out of hose. Stopping to unplug / re-plug is the only hassle. Basically the whole house can be reached using 4 outlets. Two up and 2 down.
