Can I put dry ice on my fridge?

Hey guys, I have an AMANA double door refrigerator that is not working properly. Can I put dry ice on it for 2 days? would it hurt it? I stupidly forgot to ask the tech if I could do it.

The Tech has to order some part for it so I am SOL for 2 days... The fridge works but there is a leak of refrigerant so the temp in the freezer is close to 32 instad of the normal 0 and we don't want to loose the seafood we got there.

Dunno about dry ice, but you can sure put regular ice in it. Just put it in container so you don't get water all over the place. That's how freezers used to work in the old days. Thus the name Icebox.

It works better if you put the ice in the refrigirator.

lol. Nah not the middle of winter but at night it might be cool enough to keep things from going bad too quickly. Does it go below freezing at night in memphis this time of year?

Happend to my parents fridge/freezer. Go buy a bag or 2 of ice and stick it in a bowl or something to keep things from becoming a mess and stick it in the freezer. it will keep things cool. Just change out the ice wheen needed. And the less your in the freezer the longer it will laste

I finally caught the joke with the in vs. the on. I guess I'm grammatically challenged.

Fdl, it's getting down to like in the high 30s at night now....

UPDATE: POS refrigerator won't get fixed. We need to go get a new one picked and AMANA (MAYTAG) will pay or give us credit for a comparable model.

We lost some money in food that spoiled though....

How old was the fridge?

I bet if you push them, you could get money for your food.

In the future, if anyone else's fridge is on the fritz and you have a lot of seafood in it... Please send it to Scribesoft before it's too late... Good seafood is a terrible thing to waste...

5 1/2 years old.... :shakehead

I don't really want to push them 'cuz it was already a big hassle to get them to honor the warranty even though it expired on Dec. 05.

They just don't make them the way they used to... My family had a refrigerator from the 50s that my parents bought second hand when they got married and it still works....

We made seafood the priority so we took care of the seafood this weekend
I am sick of seafood at this point. We lost some chicken and various other minor things (cheese), etc.
