Blinds

I have been dealing with some of the local blind people and have come to the conclusion that they are all idiots.

So, now I need blinds-more specifically, 2" faux wood blinds. I have been poking around the various websites that I have found through here that poeple have had good experiences with, i.e. stardecorating.com, and am pretty lost.

My question is, does anyone have any experience with any in-house brands? It is significantly cheaper, but does the quality suffer that much? Do I just stick to the brand names and get Hunter Douglas or Levolor?

TIA

Home Depot was running a sale on Bali wood and faux wood blinds recently. We picked up a few for our kitchen. I believe they were 15% off.

From time to time they have good sales. We got custom made Levolors for 50% off.

I ended up getting a set from Jackson Ltd...the quality was comparable (and IMO just as good) to Hunter Douglas and it ended up saving about $600CDN over going with the latter brand...

Here's the manufacturer's website: http://www.jackson.ca/
I believe they distribute all over NA...so, just ask around.

FWIW I got wood blinds from Costo for a pretty reasonable price (about $220 for 4'x7' windows). They might have faux, as well.

I did the 3 day blinds 2" faux angled (So it closes perfectly flat)

The price was good and they don;t use composite, they use a solid PVC.

JC Penny is having a ridiculous sale through the end of the month, like 60% off then another 15% off that discounted price, about 65% off total. They have Bali etc. and the only reason I didn't go with them is because I didn't want the composite.

I vought wood blinds from star decorating and was very happy with them. If I remember right the sizes were around 2-70x70, 2-60x60, 1-50x40, and 1-30x40. I got the no slat blackout feature and the total cost was around $1k. There were a few minro problems with them. Mostly shipping damage, but one blind was made incorrectly. They replaced all the ones that had anything wrong with them immediately. You can't blame them for UPS or the factory screwing up. I am very happy with the end product.

Maybe look into the warranty that come with no-name brands. I bought our Hunter Douglas Honeycomb blinds from Next Day Blinds (? not sure if someone bought someone else since, but at the time, this is who it was) They will repair or replace any blind forever. One of the corsd broke inside - no questions asked - repaired for free. I think they replaced one too. Not sure if you get that from no-names. Maybe they do it now to stay competitive?

Edit: hey what is this link in here for? I did not put that link there
