So it went from raining every day to 90 and hot as balls. I cut the grass and had some sun bleaching so I've been running sprinklers to help the grass. Not a big update, just wanted to show how far the grass seed has come since October

That looks awesome man. I can't believe how fast and full that has grown in now. Come help my yard lol.

The sun bleaching I am getting down here in NC is terrible right now and it is not even at the hotest time of the year yet. I think I am actually going to have to cut my watering to every other day maybe but do it for almost twice as long in hope that it soaks deeper.

Is it due to heat? Are you OVERwatering?
Also, how short are you cutting the grass? I finally started cutting at 4.5" and my lawn has never looked better!

It's St. Augustine grass, but still.

i also find that this is key... keeping the grass on the longer side helps to prevent the sun from burning up the soil... it will also retain water better and keep the lawn fuller and the weeds out... you don't want to be scalping your lawn every week...

I've been cutting at the highest setting on my mower as I don't want to cut it too short. It's just the center spot that gets blasted by the hot afternoon sun. I don't have that issue with the same seed inside the fence, just in the middle of the front patch. It's been better since I've been watering it and the rainstorms that we've been having have helped as well.

LOL...yeah, the sun has a way of showing you the weak point of your sprinkler system.
Im lucky, the sprinklers run off the canal water

I could be over watering but I could be cutting it too short. I recently read somewhere that said you should cut the grass at 3.5in for Fescue grass. I had been cutting it before at 4in which is as high as my riding mower will cut.

The sprinkler system also runs everyday for about 10-12min for each zone depending on the zone. That was set that way by the previous owner and I haven't looked into it much if that is too much, too little, or just right.

That could be possible. I will have to watch a full cycle of it next time and see if they might be spots are not getting much water. I unfortunately am paying city water to run my system. My bill last month for water was $100

My buddy had nothing to do yesterday and owed me some favors, so he came over while I was at work and cleared out all the bald patches of grass inside the fenced in area in front of the fire pit, seeded, put down lawn soil, and seeded again. We also assembled my other firewood cradle so he moved all the firewood that I had stacked on my back porch out to the new cradle and got that all stacked. I didn't get any pics last night, but I'll try to get some today

That is awesome. Still jealous how green your lawn has come in.

I am going to have to update my thread with some grass pics tonight or tomorrow cause my brown spots are starting to get worse and I hope I have not killed my grass.

Thanks man, I'm happy with it too. I do wish that my second landscaper had done a better job planting the seed inside the fenced in area so I didn't have so much touch up to do, but what can you do, it's part of the process. I am happy with how thick and green it came in where it did grow though

put a short can out on the lawn (like a tuna can) and see how much water is in it after your sprinkler cycle thru. grass usually needs about an inch of water a week...

Couple pics of the grass in the fenced in part of the yard, and the patches my buddy put down. Going to have to get some straw to keep the dogs off them

Just some updates, sorry no pics...

Grass seed in the backyard has come in real nice, I also ripped down another 1/3 of the wallpaper down in the main bathroom. Uncovered some black mold next to the shower under the wallpaper that is going to need to be dealt with, but still some more progress.

I'm also currently working on redecorating my office

Yuck though to black mold. That is not good. Hopefully at most it has affected the drywall and has not gotten into the wood at all.

Does the new job allow you to work from home some? Is that the motivation for the office work or it is just in need of a clean up cause I know mine is in need of that lol.

The black mold looks like it's only on the wallpaper glue Hoping it didn't get to the drywall...

The new job does allow from wfh, but not yet since I'm so new I haven't asked yet. It's more just needing to finish a few things and rearrange a few things. I bought some hat racks last year and am just now getting around to deciding where they should be hung, etc. Will be a lot nicer once I'm done, I really don't use the office for anything more than storage and my reloading room.

Here's a stock photo of the vanity.

Picked it up yesterday on sale. It came with a mirror as well, but I'm going to use that in the powder room that I'm also redoing, and get a matching medicine cabinet for the main bathroom
