Anthem AVM30 Receiver?

Any home theater people out there? I just went out and purchased the new 60"Sony SXRD television. Time for a home theater system . Does anyone out the have the Anthem AVM30 receiver? How is it? This is what I am leaning towards. I already have a Denon dvd player which will be fine until hd dvd and blu ray come out. I also need speakers. My place is a small one bedroom apartment. The living room is 18.5x13. The system wil be used for watching dvd's,videogaming and also music.

AVM30 is NOT a receiver, it is a HT Processor/pre-amp only. You will still need to have amplifiers if you buy the AVM30.

Also, the current production does not have HDMI interface.

HDMI is key to preventing premature obsolescense with any video component and to a lesser degree audio components.

Go to http://www.avsforum.com or http://www.audiogon.com and ask this same question, you'll get a much better response. Better yet, do a search and I am sure you will find what your looking for.

Good luck

I have an Anthem AVM30, it’s an awesome unit.
I replaced my Lexicon DC with the Anthem last year.

And as mentioned above it is NOT a receiver, it’s a Pre-Amp.
You need several power amps or one multi-channel amp to run your system with one.

If you are going w/P5, then you should get a D1.

Are you buying those retail? I can get Anthem products about 76% at ratail.

The D1 is the matching pre-amp unit to the P/A series amps. All make up the "Statement" series.

Since you're in NJ, check out these guys.
That's where I got mine.
I got 20% off without even trying real hard.

Small place, but they're an authorized dealer for many High End brands.

How do you like the new TV? I just returned a 60" Sony LCD (KDF60XS955) b/c I hated the screen-door effect (SDE) as well as getting a lot of motion artifacts on 1080i broadcasts. I know the new SXRD's don't have the SDE, but how is it when watching football on CBS? I'll probably wait until the 2006's come out and accept 1080p over HDMI, but curious what you're experience has been so far as I may get anxious and buy in early 2006
