Am I insane... considering this coffee table
I'm debating on picking this up... someone tell me I can find something cheaper somewhere else... expensive in your opinion? Worth it? I like the style... and it was very nice when I saw it in person today...
$2,299.00

One on the right for me
Looks nice. Seems a tad bit low for my taste though (unless its too hard to have an accurate perspective from the pictures). Thats a lot of cash.

now that I think about it... the entire room's hardwood floors (installed) costs less than that table... But it's a cool-ass table, we want to do alot of seating in one room. This table is pretty large in width and diameter (59w 59d 15h), it would really tie in the seating layout nicely.

My whole dining room set didn't cost much more than that.

Not really my style, and doesn't seem any more extravagant than our crate and barrel stuff...
I like the whole glass/concrete minimalist stuff though, so I wouldn't be the best person to ask.

I've seen this table in person, and it is very nice.
But that's just wayyyy more then I'd be willing to spend on a coffee table. It's also not extremely unique. You certainly have plenty of options at that price point.
Alot of Room and Boards furniture isn't actually made by them. So you might just consider looking into who, if not them, actually makes that table. It'll probably save you $1000.

For that price? Um...no.

It's a big table, with a graceful design for such a big piece. It has big lumber legs (they look about 5" square) and solid walnut is expensive, but $2300 is a lot of coin for a coffee table.
I personally don't believe it's all solid wood as described by Room and Board because of the sheer size and framing around the tabletop - a solid wood top built that way would blow itself apart with seasonal wood movement. My bet is the top itself is veneered plywood or particle board.

For that price, I'd get this:
Then again, I have no idea how much that costs either...but, dayum...that's cool.

JESUS CHRIST!?!?
Now I understand paying good money for furniture if it is going to be a piece handed down from generation to generation. But having small kids rules out any hope of having such furniture. If you plan on having kids at any point, then HELL NAW!

Furniture is a lifetime investment. Buy it. Give it to your kids if you ever tire of it. I have so much hand me down stuff from my parents and grandparents. But they all buy very good quality stuff. 2200 bucks for a lifetime table is better than getting tired of the build quality on 4 $700 dollar tables.
I was always taught to buy furniture slowly and to buy the best. Now that my wife and i own our own home, we are living by that mantra. We have some hand me downs and a few great new pieces that will be around for decades. I have a child too, your furniture will stand up if you watch your kids. As a backup, good furniture is always refinishable.
In short, do it

Although I don't practice this (it's easier said then done), I definately feel that its worth paying double for furniture that will last you a lifetime then saving a few bucks for something you'll need to replace within 5 years.

Another thing that is fun to do is to keep a furniture fund around for when you are wandering around somewhere and find something like this "gotta have" coffee table, then you feel better about the purchase. Again, easier said than done.
