AC Question....
AC Question....
Ok guys its that time already...I need to get a new AC, preferably a wall unit. Can anyone explain why do wall units cost twice as much as comparable window units?

Been a long time since I was in a house with a wall unit, but I believe wall units have an external "cage" that you somehow need to mount and then the unit slides into that.
They shouldn't cost twice as much though. Did you compare the BTU ratings?

yupz....was looking at the ones that are around 8000btu. The window units are around $200 more or less and the wall units are around $400-$500...
Reason im looking for a wall unit is because I have an old wall AC unit thats currently installed and is no longer working. For the past few years I just used a window unit, And Just last year I threw the window unit because it was getting noisier and had cracked on the frame. I would like to utilize that wall and not give up a window again.

I don't know why they are so much more expensive, but that is what I need as well. From what I can see, the main difference is the wall units have vents only in the back and window units have vents on the sides and back. I'll probably be spending around $500 to replace mine
