Workout Music

Hey since I started working out regularly I made an hour and half mix. It's not a playlist, its a bunch of songs blended togther by bpm(beats per minute). So there is no silence throught the whole mix. It is all hip-hop. I posted it on yousendit. It is available for 7 days or 100 downloads. I should be making more mixes for myself to workout with so just let me know what you think and if you would want some others.
The songs are uncensored so NWS.

Enjoy

I tried working out with Hip Hop music. But for some reason it doesn't give me the edge to work out. I tend to play some Hard music like deftones, SOAD, etc... to get in the groove of things. IMO, Hip Hop does not get me pumped. ehhh, it's different for others.

Anyway, you still need to sign in on the link you provided.

Hey man nice shot - filter.
Something in that song makes me go insane. I sometimes play it on repeat for like 5 times. lol

Otherwise I like metallica, papa roach, disturbed, Godsmack. Alot of the oldschool shit still gets me goin. Not this emo shit they play these days.

Dance type music for cardio. Works well because I slow my pace on the soothing house type music, then increase on fast pased drum and bass.

Weight training requires metal to get me that pump. Nothing particular really just hard fast metal.

Far Beyond Driven was also a fantastic album. But for my money it doesn't get any better than Far Beyond Driven.

Let's also not forget some good ol BLS!! Zakk Wylde also knows how to bring it.

Officially discovered them when I was 12. It was the same time I began to play guitar really discover my guitargods. But that's a whole other thread topic. I'm a huge rock/metal music junkie.

I went through a phase like that around that same age... that is... not to say, that your's is a "phase" cuz you're still into it, but it was for me. I used to get into bands cuz of the guitar player(s)... even if I didn't cared for the rest of the band. I wish I had stuck with it... now, I have a couple ESP's and an American Standard Strat. laying around (one of the ESP's is NOT playabe, it's in pieces). The Strat's gonna be pass down to my son (when I have one).

guitar players that I idolized off the top of my head, in no particular order:

Paul Gilbert-I didn't cared for him in "Mr. Big" but in "Racer-X"
Dave Mustaine-yes, more than Marty Friedman
Diamond Darrell-I prefer to go by "Diamond Darrell" over "Dimebag Darrell"

I got into blues later and was just blowen away when I watched a video with Stevie Ray Vaughn...

Pantera ftw. I remember I bought Cowboys From Hell on tape when I was in the 5th grade. I never tried listening to them when I work out, but hey I'll see how it goes.

My current running mix includes:

The Hollies - Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress (best intro ever)

Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills

System of A Down - Prison Song

ELO - Evil Woman

Journey - Don't Stop Believing (I've been listening to Journey for years and am not on the bandwagon)

White Zombie - More Human Than Human

DJ Shadow - Dolphins Were Monkeys

Some other stuff I can't remember off the top of my head

Not to but my phase is going strong for about 13 years now...so i don't really consider it to be a phase, just my tastes in music. I'll agree with you on Dave Mustaine, but I also love Marty Friedman. Some of his work is absolutely fantastic. Those guys combined were insane. Just listen to Rust in Peace...the entire album is a clinic. And don't forget Randy Rhodes. Geez this list could go on forever...The Maiden guys are fantastic (I support nearly the entire collection) as well as Priest. More modern players include Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom, of course Zakk Wylde (second in my book only to Dime), and Adam Dutkiewicz from Killswitch (the guy can come up with some mad riffs).

As far as guitars are concerned, I've got my US jackson and a japanese strat, and a fender electric acoustic with a fishman, whenever i decide to tone it down. I'm planning on purchasing an SG sometime soon, but I keep deciding to mod my car instead.

Cowboys from Hell is a great album. If Domination doesn't get you psyched then there's something wrong with you.

When I have a max day, I usually get mentally and psychologically pumped. In preparation for pumping out 2 reps of the heaviest weight I can do, I usually wear knee-high socks, ball huggin shorts, a nice tight tank-top that shows my hairy chest, and a fanny pack to put my cassette player in. Inside that casette player is what makes me push that extroadinary weight to the sky it seems. Nothin better then good ole Yanni, Billy Joel, or Kenny G. You guys should try it.

good workout music. Gotta love those ZW guitar squeals!

I love listen to anything hard while lifting/biking. Old Metallica, Pantera, Megadeth, Trivium, Machine Head, Bleeding Through, BLS, Ozzy, Killswitch Engage, etc...

But for running I really like some drum and bass, it just sets a faster pace for me to run at.

sorry, i'll stop whoring the thread Michi.

It's all about getting into a high-intensity mode for me at the gym so I've tried different genres to test which music-type slaps my brain awake. But the IPod is great because it can hold thousands of files and allow me to playlist a dozen or so for my work-outs. I start with a couple classical music pieces to stretch to (dunno why but they get me amped up) and then pretty much jump into predictable fare.

1) Strauss' Also sprach Zarathustra (this would also be a great song to play at full-blast when you enter your bedroom, as your significant other rolls his/her eyes)
2) Holst's The Planets: Mars
3) Metallica ... Ride the Lightning
4) Metallica ... Whiplash
5) Metallica ... Seek and Destroy
6) Metallica ... Hit the Lights
7) Offspring ... Nitro
8) Offspring ... Smash
9) Rage Against the Machine ... Bulls on Parade
10) Rage Against the Machine ... Bullet in Your Head
11) Helmet/House of Pain ... Just Another Victim
12) AC/DC ... TNT

Here is link to a 20 minute crunk mix I made using my turntables. You should be able to right-click save as or click on the link and listen. A good mix lift to.
