Seat Heaters on back?

When activating the heated seats, is the element only on the ass portion, or is it also on the back portion of the seat?
I thought it was on both... but I'm not so sure anymore. My ass always gets super hot before my back is even mildly warm... this may be because I'm sitting and all my weight is on the ass... or maybe there is no heating element on the back portion?? anyone know?
it sort of feels like there's heat on the lower back... nothing higher up.

If I recall correctly, the seat and back on driver's side, but the passenger only gets the seat. I seem to recall the image in the owners manual having the back element about mid-back, but that might be more representational than accurate.

sockpuppet and ucf_bronco are correct. The driver's seat has heating elements in both the seat bottom and the seat back. The passenger seat only has the element in the seat bottom, as the seat back is equipped with the OPDS sensor and doesn't allow for an element to be incorporated. This goes for all trim levels 09-14.

the seats in the 3G TL are the same. Heater on Drivers side in seat and back, passenger side only on the seat. BTW -- I had the heater in the seat area go out in my 04TL a few years back. It was over 500.00 to fix it. Fortunately I was close enough to warranty they did it free.

thanks for the input everyone!
I wish the back portion went a little higher (at least up to my shoulder blades). It basically warms up your ass and hips only. When you're cold you want your upper/mid section to be warm!

Ironically, I find that here in Alberta, when it gets cold, it's easy to be indifferent about the back element. For 7 months out of the year, I'm wearing a thick enough coat that I couldn't feel the back heat anyway.
