New one has the chrome similar to the tl sport gille accessory. Not that big of a difference, I bet most people won't even notice the change when they see them on the road

The grille looks more different than that unless I've been drinking too much. The two insert pieces in the grille are pulled all the way to the front and are bright now, and the badge shield section looks different.

Those wheels are bland though. Acura has a lot of beautiful wheel designs and they should've used them.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I still don't like it that much... why not just throw a huge Acura logo on the front like the C300 sports and call it a day!

The C300 sports grille is pretty hot lookin'.

The best Acura grille, imo is the one on the 2009 MDX. I may be in the minority but I think that grille would look hot on the TL and RL.

That is actually a good idea! I don't like it even more. The whole (BEAK) design sucks. People are still going to want to change it. Your telling me the Acura designers could come up with something different to fill the same space?

I love this. I think it solves the problem. The blade part doesn't extend down so far, and it is top of the grill isn't that much above the headlights. I think it just looks nice.

Feeling the previous grille. Until it gets a redesign the car will lag in its class.

Why is there that clear plastic piece running down the middle? For aero? I'm not feeling it, cheapens it, reminds me of Subaru outback.

I think the better designer stayed with GM and the unwanted one went to Acura - just noticing the similar design language with the 2 brands lately....

I thought it's for the CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System)?

It is very possible that on the TL they'll be able to line up the headlights with the top of the grill

Probably true

Many people are resistant to change

I thought it had, but I'm not seeing that info anywhere. I see power folding mirrors, back up sensors, in wheel silencers (?) and 6AT for sure.

If you get an RL (or MDX/ZDX)without CMBS, you don't need the cover for the sensor and have a regular grill. On a side note, I've always wondered why they didn't place the sensor behind the shield grill? Seems like the perfect place unless the system needs to "see" out? I always though it was a radar sensor which should penetrate the plastic grill?

What is up with that plastic piece in the center, the clear piece that goes up and down in the middle? Is that necessary to hold up the grille? It looks so awkward.... in fact, it looks like saliva dripping down the beak.... ouch!

That is for the sensors of the adaptive cruis control: most manufacturers have adopted that shield (a very noticeable example is the Mercedes GL 450, when so equipped). It is particularly noticeable under certain light conditions, less under others.

Thanks for the information about the CMBS! I had no idea - thanks!

BTW, isn't that what Infiniti has too for their Technology package? I didn't seem to remember seeing that shield for those vehicles? Maybe they hide it well???

That is the laser sensor that gives the driver an alarm when they are traveling to close the car in front of them and some systems will even apply the brakes to deter crashes. Can't think of what Acura calls it, but they have it on some Volvo's and other vehicles.

Yeah that's it! LOL! When I was checking out the TL I inquired about it on the RL and MDX...was surprised the TL didn't offer it....would be a great feature on the 5G.

^HA! That'd be optimal mounting location. And would be highly effective given the size.
