@some guy11 I had a 16 Accord and the LED strips went out. One was right before the warranty and they replaced it at no charge. The second went out right after warranty and they covered that one as well. I leased the car as I did my 19 TLX. They did the right thing as they have to replace the whole light assembly. It's not cheap. As for the jewel led lights on the TLX I would think they are good as they've been around for a few years now..

I don’t know what the fix costs of if the owners even know it’s out. You don’t see your own DRLs.
Let’s just hope they fixed that issue before they start putting it on the next generation of Acura products

They replaced the whole assembly for the jewel DRL or the strip DRL

This was for the 16 Accord I had. There wasn't a jewel headlamp on that car. The DRL LED strip started to go dim. It was a defect. There replaced the headlamp and LED strip because they are both together as one piece.

FYI this is the same deal with the TLX taillight LED strip. If you get water in the housing, which was a relatively common problem, the you got a whole new taillight assembly. There is apparently no "fixing" these LED strips. It was nice of HondAcura to replace these units under and outside of warranty, but I've seen enough of them on the roads to believe that owners might end up paying for replace housings on their own dime within a couple years. So... those willing to give them another chance can hope they get their act together for the next gen. Not exactly the quality you expect when buying HondAcura.

TLX taillight is currently $307
https://www.acurapartsnow.com/v-2015...-license-light
Accord headlight is currently $656
https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-...light-led.html

Looks like the RDX lights. Smaller and more jewel eye LEDs with a strip below it. Look past the three hole cutouts.

The little gridded area right on the DRL makes that section look skewed and I’ve seen it in person

"Not exactly the quality you expect when buying HondAcura."

The problem is that some of these parts are from third parties. In the case of the Accord LED DLR it was not produced by Honda. If Honda agrees to use their parts and is sold on the quality, then it may be something not known until the customer is using in the real world after some time. As for the issue with the Accord light, it appears to happen before 40k miles for most. So hopefully many will use their warranty after looking at YouTube videos for information. Yes it was nice of Honda to replace the one after warranty. I've been a long time customer of Honda/Acura and makes perfect sense with all of the competition out there. I'm sure the vendor of the light is hearing it from Honda on the quality issue.

That could be discouraging as maybe that reprints MDX, RDX, TLX and ILX? No RLX or is the ILX dead and that is a new Legend?

People said it’s not the RDX because when these pictures was taken the RDX was already out, some suggest that it’s a sub that slots between the RDX and MDX sort of Acura passport type suv

2020 Acura TLX Type S Spotted Testing Against S4, AMG C43, Could Get New V6 Turbo

We recently purchased an RDX. Our two "regular" cars are ancient (2004 Saab and 2001 CL-S) so we're looking for a new sedan in the near future and looking forward to seeing what happens with the TLX. The possibilities are exciting.

It's almost July and we have pretty much nothing on the next Gen. Just a few crappy spy pics. I think they might be way behind the schedule.

I feel the same frustration with no information, but Honda/Acura have always tightly controlled communication - no leaks. My guess is that they will show up as promised and we all get the information we want in mid-August. Until then, it's just speculation based on limited facts.

The Precision Concept is a pretty big design shift for Acura, and if I were running their marketing department - which I am obviously not and they aren't asking my opinion - I would have some fun with this next launch by releasing some hints along the way. Why not stir the speculation pot a little further. I guess Pebble Beach is a good venue for a big announcement - lots of car people around. However, it's focus is cars of the past - really special cars of the past, so hopefully they get the attention they desire and not thought of as irrelevant. I will presume they have done their research and it's a great launch.

Better they hold off rather then a redo of the original TLX launch.

Acura did a phenomenal job with the RDX. First with the teaser, then the official launch. Last but not least, their press release/test drives and inviting all the journalists to British Columbia, Canada were outstanding.

I really believe they got an amazing coverage and since they made a great car. The journalists went above and beyond to praise it.

I hope they do the same with the MDX and TLX.

absolutely didnt happen for the TLX...
it's still a $40k+ car even after they bombed the debut.

Different story for the NSX tho, as it's having price cuts.

Am I the only person in the world that has a 2020 TLX?

Picked mine up an hour ago( a TLX base). Funny - I came here with questions, but nobody will have answers yet, I guess.

Heh, thread title needs an update! Next year will be busy year for Acura. They're probably going to launch both the TLX and MDX. And then ZDX 2.0 and whatever that Pebble Beach vehicle is going to be in 2021. My conjecture.

Congrats on the new ride! Smart move - always a good idea to get the last year in a model run as all/most of the bugs have been worked out,

First major release this summer of an all new car, the 2020 Mid Engine StingRay, is being shown in CA in 2 weeks, 7/18/19. They have been flashing the camo cars for a few months now. Expect more brands will be showing their 2020 stuff between then & September. Pebble Beach is always a biggy for reveals.

Thread title change complete!

I'm hoping Acura knocks it out of the park with the 2G TLX and the next MDX. Myself, I am counting down the months until my current TLX lease ends (ten more). Was hoping to avoid the first-year blahs of a new model next year. Now, it's looking like there will be no fresh Acura product to change to at the end of my lease...and I'm not an SUV guy.

I'm fairly certain Acura will undoubtedly have the 2nd Gen with less problems than the 1st. My concern is new center console given the terrible reviews on it in the RDX and if Acura half ass on the HP/Performance side of things

My wife and I are waiting with great interest to see what the future holds for the TLX. We recently purchased a 2019 RDX, but still need a sedan to replace our 2001 CL-S and a 2005 Saab. If the next version of the TLX turns out to be a dud, we'll no doubt be driving an Accord.

Dodge Listens to their customers, Honda/Acura tells the customers what they want.

I seriously doubt the 2G TLX will be a dud but in case it is, the Accord 2.0T Touring is getting rave reviews and appears to be a very nice car. Car & Driver just completed their long term testing of the '18 Accord EX-L 2.0T by driving it for 40k miles. They wrote a glowing review and I was impressed with how the car's performance improved over time. Initially, the Accord's 0-60 was 5.7 seconds and after 40K miles it had dropped to 5.3 seconds. More telling was the 0-100 improvement: 14.3 seconds when new, 12.7 after 40k miles. Overall mileage for the test term was 29mpg. Those are very good stats. If the next TLX improves even marginally on those numbers, I would be impressed. I think you may find that your patience in waiting will reward you. I would bet on it but like you mentioned, your plan B is still a solid plan. (BTW, I live very near Raleigh and work in Knightdale. We're practically neighbors.)

I totally agree, the current generation Accord is pretty darn good. The interior space is absolutely ridiculous, especially in the back. It's got something like 4 inches more rear legroom than the TLX, and the 10speed transmission in the 2.0T model is heads and shoulders more responsive and smoother and faster shifting than the ZF9 turd in the TLX. It's too bad that you can't have the manual 6-speed paired with the 2.0T Touring trim; I would absolutely take that over a TLX V6 FWD for the same price.

Quick Reply: Any doubts on 2nd gen TLX for 2020? Err...make that 2021?
