Question TPMS sensors

I bought a set of rim and winter tire for my new RDX at CT, but they don't have the TPMS sensors for my 2011 RDX, anyone know where you can get them other than the dealership?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Acurazine!

New member, same boat as OP. Just bought my mum a 2012 RDX SD-AWD Tech

Noticed the sensors were available on ebay, but heard stories about the sensors needing programming on some vehicles.

Is this true for the RDX, or will the new sensors automatically detect and work?

Thanks, and see you in the RDX section (soon)

Any sensors will need to be programmed to 'sync' with your car.

You sure about that. Seems to be conflicting information about that out there.

And syncing every time you change your wheels seems retarded IMO, so if it does need to be synced, i hope its a 1 time thing.

as far as i know it has to be oem, because it gives off a fcc code. and rdx is self programming, some rare occasions you have to manually set them at the dealer.

So if i get a second set of OEM TPMS, and put them in a second set of wheels/tires, it should automatically detect the new sensors and start reading from those?

Hope i'm understanding correctly. Will make running snow tires/rims much more convenient.

Why not remove from factor rims, transfer over to aftermarket rims? (assuming oem has them) and that way might be able to dodge going through dealer for relearn process

Then the factory rims won't have any sensors. Counter productive, not to mention far less cost efficient, to mount/dismount 2 sets of wheels twice a year just to save some cash initially on a set of TPMS.

I suppose you can break the bead and get the TPMS out, but either way, a shop is gonna charge at least for mounting each time.

But anyways, yeah, here in Toronto, we ride on 2 sets of rims/tires every year. Cept for the rich guys, they just change cars
