New 2014 TL SH-AWD A-Spec

I take possession of a brand new, black 2014 TL SH-AWD A-Spec tonight. It's my first Acura and i'm pretty pumped! Now, the GM there told me he has a guy that does vinyl wrap and could do the chrome front nose area for $300 or something in that neighbourhood. Are there any other options to do this? I wasn't really wanting to spend that much to black out the front of the car. Thanks for the help!

Vinyl wrap it yourself.

Buy vinyl from metrorestyling.
Vinyl material should cost you like $30.

Bad thing about paint, is it's likely to chip, especially when not prepped correctly.
Looks very ugly when chipped.

Plasti-dip, nice and quick, but I absolutely dislike the texture from plasti-dip. Looks cheap, bumpy, and matte, even with the glossifier.

Awesome, thanks!. I'm going to look into this metrorestyling website and see what they offer. Is this a hard thing to install? Does the viynl need to be heated to conform to different curves??

I don't really wanna paint or plasti-dip it as the car is leased. Not sure the dealership would be cool with that.

as long as u use 5-6 coats of plastic dip it shouldn't b a problem to take off in the future.
but since u leased it does that mean u plan on returning it at some point?

Yes, it's leased so it'll be going back in 3-4 years for another new vehicle. That's why I don't wanna paint or do anything that is permanent. I'm not a huge fan of the rough surface that is left when using plasti-dip either though.

Plasti-Dip will not harm the paint - I was also a skeptic until I actually did it for a friend's car. It's one of those see it to believe it kind of things.

As far as vinyl, you can install it on a warm day and it should be fine. If it creases around the curves then using just a blow dryer will provide enough heat (you can keep pulling it off a few times before the adhesive loses strength).

Oh and use a credit card or something with a hard and flat plastic edge to press on when installing it, just YouTube some DIY videos.

A little.

I've had my 3M 1080 carbon fiber vinyl on my grill since 2012 and it's flawless still.

congratulations for the tl, I've pick up my '14 a spec, black as well, last weekend. I have plastidip at home, if you want we can try it and if you don't like it, you can peel it off. I am planning to paint the chrome rims with plastidip, I don't like the chrome. Do you know of any good place for window tint? I am in Oakville.

Congrats on the new TL but I would advise not to plasti dip the rims, we got another member having a hard time taking the plasti dip off his rims

Thank you for the tip, I used on the steel rims on my pilot (winter tires) and I didn't see any problem. could it be that is hard to remove because is applied to the chrome? do you know if he applied 5 coats at minimum? I really want to get rid of the chrome... any other product you may suggest?

No idea...Let me know when you are in town. Can I ask you how you are dealing with the fact that we have no Tech on the A-Spec? How is the sound system on the base model? thats what I am the most worried about...don't mind the GPS. Also, what did you do for winter tires....did you just slap on 19" winter or went with other set of 17 rims with tires?

Base model and A-spec use the same sound system..:-( In the past, what I did with all my hondas is to upgrade speakers and that give me a better quality (not power). GPS, I enjoy my Garmin GPS, I don't like the GPS interface from any car (except Chrysler which I believe uses Garmin on their HU). For Winter, I couldn't tell, I picked mine at the end of March so I didn't need to buy tires. I will probably go with 18 inches to have a softer ride without making to abrupt the change on the drive experience. I did that 'mistake' once 18 --> 16 and I didn't like it, it was way to different the ride. I will ping you when I am in MTL, I was there last weekend so expecting to be there by end of June.

Hey All,

Finally got my BWP Acura TL 2014 A-Spec SH-AWD!!!! Here are some pictures to share. Love the car but man ohh man do I miss my ELS sound system...

Can anyone confirm if changing only the front and back speakers and keeping same OEM AMP will make a difference in terms of clarity of sound? Thinking of Kappa speakers...

I really need to figure a simple way to upgrade my crappy sound system though...I don't know that much about sound but want to invest a little to beef it up...If I change the speakers, do I need to change the wires also or keep the OEM ones?
