Anyone heard of AutoBase in Toronto?
Anyone hear of this used car shop? I thought I recall seeing a member here who had gotten his TL totalled, and then went and bought a TL-S from these guys. They don't seem to have their own site, besides an inventory page via autotrader.ca: http://www.autotrader.ca/Autobase
Those pictures are static as I've seen them before for the same vehicles. Thinking about going to check out the 6MT TL-S they have but wanted to get some reviews, if any.

The pics very similar to that showroom.
I've seen another car posted that said 100% accident free 1 owner off lease. Why wouldn't the dealer take it back in this case? Couldn't it be that the owner bought it off lease then sold it to a used car dealer. Although, it does like a pretty dumb move.

Yea the one with the a-spec front lip was a rebuilt so I said nah to that. I went to AutoBase and gave a deposit today and am pretty much gonna sign the papers tomorrow. What's wrong with 3rd part dealers?
Regarding the $495 certification, the car is already certified. He charges a flat rate on all vehicles. This spreads out his repair costs.
The OP from the accident thread I linked above bought his TL from there and he recommended me actually.
I went there and they were super nice and up front about everything. The car is mint with low kms. I figure it'd be hard to find, but couldn't negotiate with the posted price. This guy told me he gets the TL-S often but mostly the 5AT so if anyone is interested in that, they should check it out. He already has 2 and said he's getting another couple.
On a side note, don't go to Jimiline Fine Cars. That dude was the biggest ass on the planet. I guess he judged me right away and didn't want me to test drive the car, wtf?? He said why do you need to test drive it? I was like wtf is wrong with this clown. He said let's get the bill of sale ready, you gimme a deposit then you drive the car away.

Congrats on your imminent purchase.
The issue with 3rd party dealers is the usual lack of customer service or recourse if anything happens shortly after the sale.
Having spoken to and visited a few when I was looking for my car they don't usually like it when you ask them to take the car to Acura to do the Safety and Certification.
Why? Who else do you know that is going to inspect the car with the level of detail that they will to ensure everything is up to par. Even if it costs you out of pocket I would recommend doing to know exactly what your getting before you complete the sale rather than after.
The major plus is that its a 6MT. Keep in mind though within the next 6-9 months your going to see a lot more of the 07-08's coming off lease.

Thanks guys! I think I might have done an impulse buy here because it was way too fast. I mean I'm a pretty cautious about spending. Oh well, it's all done and I'm sure I'll enjoy the car! Unfortunately, this does have the 3rd gear issue. Since I do have warranty on it, I wanna make use of it. Has anyone done this at an Acura dealer in the GTA with good results? I've heard the issue slowly creeping back up even after the "fix".
Avoid the dealer for this one.
Just switch out the transmission fluid to GM Syncromesh and you'll be good to go.
Just buy a case of 12 and do a 3x4 to get as much new fluid in as possible.

No need to put my car under the needle at a stealership for no reason.
