Just had a physical and had the doc test me for everything...

HIV - Negative
Gonorrhea - Negative
Chlamydia - Negative
Hepatitis - Negative
TB - Negative

I asked him about getting a test for Herpes but he said that there is no "Test" for herpes, rather the test shows if i've been in contact with someone who was infected but it doesn't necessarily mean I have it. He said that it would come out positive even if I was in contact with someone who had cold sores, so as to not freak me out and since there is no specific way to tell if I have genital herpes per se that he rather that I not take the test. He asked if i've had any signs or sypmtoms of it and I told him that I have not. He said it was good enough and I should only worry if I start to show signs.

I think he's right about genital herpes. You really have to be symptomatic for them to properly diaganose it.

That's EXACTLY what happened to me and it enfuriated me. How the F could you not test for Herpes!? So not only is it technically possible you and I and the rest of AZ have Herpes, but any girl can confidently tell us she does NOT have Herpes and not really be lying. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I HATE HERPES.

Supposedly the only way they can test for it is if you actually HAVE an outbreak. They take a q-tip and test the sores. BUT GEE, IF I HAVE GIANT SORES ON MY COCK, I WONDER WHAT IT IS?!

AND CONDOMS SUPPOSEDLY DON'T STOP ALL HERPES TRANSMISSIONS.

AND AND, YOU CAN GET GENITAL HERPES FROM GETTING ORAL SEX FROM A CHICK WITH MOUTH HERPES.

AND AND AND, A GIRL CAN HAVE HERPES AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY SYMPTOMS.

Herpes is the worst man.

 

i don't want it on my dick, but cold sores are really not that big of a deal. take some medicine, dont drink caffeine and alcohol for a few days, and nothing usually happens.

I'm clean as well...Only thing I ever got in the past was the Clap...No idea how, but I got it. Took some medication and I was as good as new after about a week...

I did also get Mono, but I can guarantee that it wasn't from kissing someone, I have no idea how or who i was in contact with to have gotten it...sucks...trust me!

Both incidents were a good 12-13 years ago....Ahh the youth days...not sure if I miss it or not...

 

I need to get test but I'm kind of scared of the results.

Anyway, my BS test was when the girl passes the OBGYN tests, then I guess I'm clear.

You could have been tested for antibodies to HSV-2 but that would have just told you if you had been exposed. Theoretically, if you have IgG antibodies to HSV-2 you were exposed and potentially infected with the HSV-2 virus but unless you actually culture the virus from active blisters (or do direct immunofluorescent staining), it's more circumstantial. As mentioned ad nauseum, either type of HSV virus, 1 or 2, can cause genital herpes and 90% plus of us already have HSV-1. Even if you're negative for HSV-2 antibodies, you "could" have genital herpes caused by HSV-1. I'd say if you don't have any symptoms and no blisters on your willy, no worries for any further testing given your favorable lab results so far.

 

after reading all this im a little confused about herpes now....

hypothetically speaking, if you were to have sex with a girl that had herpes but wasnt having an outbreak at the time (with no condom), would it mean that you could potentially have it even if several months or years passed by without symptoms? so basically even when not having an outbreak you can pass it on and you might never show symptoms?? or can you only get herpes from open sores?? even if tested after having sex with someone who had herpes wont prove u have herpes only u had sex with someone who has herpes? the only way they can test for herpes is by the open sores?? which is kinda obvious what you have at that point... sorry for all the questions im a noob......

 

good for you on being clean man. I am a bit freaked out cuz I shared a pipe with a friend who had mono and didnt know about it till later. He picked it up in amsterdam a month ago and didnt have any symptoms till about 2 weeks later.
