You guys are too traditional....too fancy with all those ideas. I did mine over the phone....she said Yes and that was it! If she wants you for the rest of her life, it doesn't matter where, when or how you purposed. She'll say yes regardless! Just do it!
And I didn't even buy her a ring until a few weeks before our wedding...just for the sake of it!

Wow it's crazy that I stumbled across this thread. I proposed to my girl today at my birthday party. She was not expecting that at all. She even planned the whole BBQ party for me and everything. Towards the end of it, she went to get something inside. I got her flowers and her ring in hand, and when she came out, I was waiting on one knee! She went into shock! I said some romantic things that came from the heart (I really don't like practicing lines 
) and asked her to marry me. (She said YES!) It was to date, the best feeling I've felt in my life thus far.
I'm glad to see there are people out there that still believe in marriage. I say, whenever you decide when to do it, just do what comes from the heart. I always think that works the best.

Do what u feel fits the moment Bryan. While we can give u creative ideas on how to do it and when, only u know her like u do. We cant begin to understand some one else's relationship and thats the beauty of it. DO WHAT U DO... just make sure all of it is 110 percent and you cant go wrong. I think doing it while on vacation is a good idea. You need to have time to spend time with each other and relish the moment after the proposal. The day when you propose is not as important as how and where you propose because those are the things that lingers in a girl's memory.
My husband knew that I love the beach and how I find sunsets romantic. So when we went to Virginia Beach, he brought the ring with him and just waited until the sun started to go down and people began to leave. I remember walking down the empty beach... He stopped walking, held both of my hands to get my attention, and started telling me how he felt. He got down on one knee and took out the ring to propose.
Since we were on vacation (it was the Memorial Day weekend), I had my camera with me so we were able to ask an old couple passing by to take a picture of us. We then watched the sunset, and much later, the fireworks.

I'm guessing you're Catholic. Living with your girlfriend is okay, it's boning her which the church frowns upon.
I know of a couple relationships that ended because they didn't know how the other lived. The couples knew each other for years but never lived with one another.

but yea, ill probably go out on wednesday after i pick up the ring to see her dads side of the family. easy to talk to them all at once since they're always in one place together.
as far as living together, i know i can handle it. sure, she doesnt clean i like i do, but it doesnt bother me. but its something we both want, and im ready for that next step.
