Smooth breakups...possible?

After ~6 months, my gf and I just broke up. I kinda knew this was coming since the end of December, but she initiated the talk today. So I wasn't too surprised. I'm not even sad about it right now... I guess our personalities were just too different...

Anyways, is there such thing as a smooth breakup? Or will I crash about it later in the week?

Yes, it's definitely possible. I've had 3 clean breakups.

As long as no one owes money. You should have some type of material incase the situation goes sour. ex: home video

It's very possible. I just had one in November with a girl I got along perfectly with. Never a fight, never even a disagreement and we were always doing something crazy, spontanious and fun. We were out of town almost every weekend for the 6 months we were together.

I broke it off because she was entering college and i was out and on my way to life. I knew we would eventually run into issues with me being on a more mature side of life than her so I cut it before problems arrose. (actually, i was forced to by Stiffy and Astro )Although, i adored this girl, i havent really thought much about it since.

It was a very clean breakup so its definitly possible.

If you both feel it's best to break up, it will definitely feel "better" than if it were one-sided. Doesn't mean you won't feel a loss or have a different lifestyle than the last six months, but might not hurt as much if *you* feel it was a good change for *yourself* too.

She was 21 and entering Community College. I just turned 27 the other day. Overall, she just had too much in front of her that is already behind me. So I cut it off before it became a problem.

sure there is..as long as everyone is honest and no body broke up with each other b/c there was something they couldn't stand about each other..and mutual...if you're just at different stages in life, fine...

Good points everyone. It's Monday and I still feel nothing about it... I thought about it over the weekend and I think it might have to do with how much I've gained from the relationship. Definately an eye opener for me...

eh everyone is different. Just don't think about it too much, you seem like you'd be fine.
