A black linen suit would probably be your best bet because your already on the trendy side.
If rap stars can make a suit with sneakers in style I am sure you can pull off brown shoes with a black suit.

Geophysicists show up to work in jeans and plaid shirts at best. If we have to meet with a client in consulting, we put on our suit.

I remember that picture, in which case with your suit I wouldn't try it. You can wear dress shoes with other things then a suit, don't be a fool and wear polished black dress shoes with a pair of ripped jeans, but a clean set of properly fitting jeans with a dress shoe with texture(like lizard, snake, stingray, etc....) works. Now with style being so relaxed you can even wear a set of loafers with a suit- just make sure the slacks have been tailored accordingly. You can wear the same loafers with shorts, pants, jeans or what ever floats your boat. The point of all of this is dress shoes don't have to be uncomfortable shoes reserved for when you wear a suit. Maybe its not your style, but something possibly worth mentioning.
I got 2 pairs of shoes.
One for everything, including walking around in the mall and mowing the lawn.
One for "nicer" events, which are also color-scuffed to hell. And now that I look at them, they were ugly in the first place.
Goddamn, I'm poor.
Thank god that's not what my girl noticed.

I care about my athletic shoes because I am pretty hard on them. As far as dress shoes, I don't give a shit. I get the plainest looking Kenneth Coles and thats it.

I am really beginning to question, based on his posting in this thread, whether youngTL is really gay.........with four pair of shoes, he's not even metrosexual........
I buy expensive dress shoes, as I wear custom orthotics to help redistribute foot weight; cheap shoes don't cut it, and dress shoes are the "uniform" at my work. Have added up my shoes while posting - two pair of athletic shoes, one pair of casual deck shoes that can be pressed into use for a workout if I'm traveling, six pair of dress shoes, three pair of casual dress shoes, one pair of dancing pumps for wear with a tux, and ski boots. Flip=flops for the hot tub spa in my apartment building...... that is all.
