I found this in the police report section of a newspaper today:
My thoughts here are this girl is 
since where there's smoke there is fire. What reason would a girl have to hide her engagement ring, other than to appear single so guys won't be scared off of approaching her. But of course my gf argues "oh no maybe she just was afraid it would slide off her finger and didn't want to drop it or lose it. It doesn't mean she's trying to pretend she's single."
I countered with "then why do I always see a ton of both women and men out at bars with their rings still on?"
So what does everyone think? Should this be a giant red flag for the dude and should he nix her, or do girls routinely do this with their rings so they don't lose them?
A woman reported the theft of her change purse at *bar name* at 12:40 am. The purse contained $25 of cash and an engagement ring valued at $3,200.

Why would she think she think putting in a purse would be more secure than on her own finger? Sounds way sketchy to me. I haven't been engaged that long but I do know my fiancée guards her ring with her life and even sleeps with it on.

I would be a bit concerned if there are other red flags. I'm not sure I would base it just on that.
I take my ring off a lot when I'm shooting pool. I know some people are paranoid about wearing flashy bling out at bars. Maybe she was afraid that alcohol would tarnish it. Just playing devil's advocate here.

Unless there are other reasons to believe otherwise, I don't see it as a red flag. Especially if it has been very recently given, or not sized well...the excuse of taking it off in a crowded bar is very plausible.
Bottom line, if a broad wants to go out and get filled up with dick, she doesn't need to hide her ring. I've been with a girl who was engaged before...and I don't even remember if she wore her ring when we met or not.

It sounds fishy. If the ring was really loose, the girl could have worn it as a pendant or changed the band size.
