Is there any truth to......

.....the saying "every man grows up to mary his own mother"? of course not literally marry your own mother, but a woman that acts like her.

Doesn't have anything to do with guys marrying women that are like their mothers.

Is more the phenomenon that 20 years after you get married, you are married to a middle aged broad, who likely is a Mom and who nags and isn't the fun 25 year old grl you married.

This works the other way too -- she ends up married to a middle aged man, who likely is a father and who isn't the fun attentive 25 year old guy she married.

That said, each and every one of us is influenced by our upbringings and the way our family interacts. We learn how people "our age" act and sometimes we act the same way. I know that I act the same way as my dad in some things, other things... not so much but much of those are conscious choices I made to do it differently than he did.

I believe this stems from a Freudian theory which was heavily cocaine induced/extremely controversial to begin with. Though it may seem to work for some people I don't believe there is enough comprehensive evidence that has stood the test of time for validation.

As long as I don't ever end up married to someone like my dad. Nothing against gay men, or anything...

My fiancée falls asleep at like 9 PM like my Mom does, but that's absolutely the only similarity.
