Happy news, need help on how to propose!
Ok i did it, i finally going to get the ring on friday. I dunno how to give it to my girlfriend though. Damn ring cost a small fortune for me about 6 gs. So no H22a on the old CL. Now I need some opinions how you guys think i should do it. I am in the NYC area and it should be affordable. Thanks oh
BTW please no comments like PIITB lol.

heres and idea...
tell her to pack her clothes for 1 week. tell her she will need suntan oil (spring break good excuse)
fly down somewheres exotic
get a shanty by the water nice view preferred
go have a blast there that week
one morning wake up early and make her breakfast in bed
wake her up time it to where the sun is about to rise.
tell her how last night you got restless and went on a walk on the beach and thought about somthing serious etc etc... how you cant live without her and how happy she makes you...tell her you went to a little shop that was still open last night and got her a gift. blah blah as the sun is comming up.. tell her youve made up your mind, just like the sun comming up right now to start a new day i want to start a new day with you, i dont ever want to spend another day watchign another sunrise without you etc etc... give her the ring box..and do the deed!

or..... hire a private gourmet cook and waiter for the night....
have them set up a table in a nice park or landmark area.
have her dress up really nice
pick her up in a limo you wearing a tux of course
get to the park candle lite table waiting of course
have them do cook/serve your meal there
take her somewhere nice/upscale for after dinner something like a live show
talk to the owner or whoever is running the show before hand of course.
have them call you up there and say you won a prize or something... go up there and talk about how happy you are to win the prize etc then shift the focus on your girl being your prize etc and ask her to marry you right there.

Ok i did it, of course it seems like no matter how much i plan it will get messed up. I was planning to do it earlier after dinner in a nice park area. But that got messed up. The restaurant had a party that was hold up my table. The people eating there was there for over two hours and delayed me more than 30 mins. Then it was raining really hard. Ended up in the car under the pouring rain all wet. Oh well the ring was big enough so I think she didn't care anymore.

haha, no, she's not into that at all. We've been common-law for 7 years and she's now at the point where she'd rather see the coin go towards a paved driveway and some landscaping! But.... she has these friends who are very into rings, and I don't want her (or me) to feel like a cheapskate whe she's around them.
I hate the fact that all the diamonds come from like 2 companies and its a virtual monopoly price game you have to play. For that reason alone, we may go with a ring that is specifically not a diamond.
