That herpes crap happened to me!


I went out with this girl last night, and she was mad cool. Had dinner, went to the movies, all dutch...Then I go back to my hotel and we were talking and she was like "I woulda came over, but you didnt invite me".

So I asked her to come over and then I go to sleep so I can get up for work in the morning (it was like 1am then, I had to be up by 6am). I wake up around 530, start kissing her and getting her all worked up. I never do the distance the first night, so I was just tryna cop a feels and see what I could get away. I stopped after a while and just chilled, I checked the time and it said 539. I asked her "If you could do anything in these 21 minutes, what would you do?", and she was basically talking about toppin me off .

She then drops the bombshell, telling me she had the genital herpes as a way of being honest with me. The first thing I thought about was A-zine and how I had to post this up here . I tried to act normal, but I thought my lip was on fire from kissing her. I wanted to be pissed, but I kept my calm....WTF...


No debating this one, my wang isnt gonna fall off....

But still, as a practical matter, even if a girl doesn't know she has herpes, or has ever even showed signs, she may have them. And, to make matters worse, her mouth herpes (cold sores) can transfer over to your genitals.

Sooooo if you were in this situation, how would you approach it? What about kids later on in life? What if you dont work out....

Sith is right, you probably got it already with the game you run. When is paranoia and precaution too much? i went to thailand and vietnam for a month after i finished residency. for 30 days straight i took 1 gm of valtrex and 100 mg of doxycycline to ward off the herpes, the clap, etc, etc. this was in addition to strapping 2 raincoats on (2 jimmies and whisky dick not a good combo btw). didn't get anything so it was worth it. are you going to do that shit everyday for the rest of your sexually active life? that's your call.

fwiw, i've already completed immunization of the human papilloma virus vaccine last year (3 injections over 6 months). even though it's not fda approved for men i got one of my obgyn friends to hook my shit up (one of the benefits of being an m.d.) never had even 1 frickin wart on the finger, foot, or schlong and now i never will

 

I was in that situation... we had some good times together for a few years, no kids, went our separate ways and I am infection free...most people just will not tell you up front!

I have treated many couples who want to have an active sex life and one of them has herpes.... honesty between the partners, good medical treatment for outbreaks as well as suppressive therapy like surfer rick was talking about, and common sense equal a much, much decreased chance of contracting the virus...you also have to be committed to each other only.

...Kiddos...well, I have delivered hundreds of babies and some of those moms had herpes... If she has an active outbreak, then you do a c-section, if not vaginal... if you as the doctor or them as the patient have ANY reservations...you go for the c-section... I have never had a child contract herpes post-delivery... if i did... OH YEAH... I would know!

... and what if y'all dont stay together...1. you have learned that living with herpes is NOT living with HIV...it is not a death sentance... 2. you learn that almost everyone you have slept with has slept with someone who had herpes and just did not know it...
3. you learn to live smarter sexually and treat everyone like they could jack junior for ya... 4. you learn to love another human being past that person's imperfections no matter when or where they happened...

Intramuscular injections in shoulder. Gardasil is a pentavelent human papilloma virus vaccine used to prevent HPV infection in girls and young women prior to sexual activity. The objective is to prevent cervical carcinoma which is associated with certain strains of HPV infection. The vaccine covers against the strains of HPV commonly associated with genital warts such as HPV 6, 11, 16 and 18.

Although it's off label for males, I consider it a good preventive measure for myself since I'm single.
