Intrauterine devices (IUD's) can only be "installed" by the healthcare provider...which makes sense 'cause I sure as hell couldn't do that myself! There are two types of IUD's: nonhormonal copper device and progesterone-infused device. The copper IUD causes a foreign-body inflammatory response within the uterine cavity where any sperm and/or blastocyst (fertilized egg) is attacked by the immune system. Copper also has spermicidal properties. The progesterone IUD inhibits ovulation, and possibly triggers the same inflammatory pathway.

The progesterone IUD is replaced every year; the copper IUD can stay as long as 6-7 years....24/7!!!

The copper IUD can cause severe cramping and increased bleeding. Both IUD's can be spontaneously expelled or in rare cases, become lodged and perforate the uterus itself! Ectopic pregnancy is more likely due to the fact that the endometrium is inhospitable to blastocyst implantation whereas the fallopian tubes are not! Bacterial infections are possible with an IUD; in particularly, the ones with the string emanating out of the cervical os...

I think I covered everything...
Yeah, thats probably why she doesnt want to go the IUD route. She's also seen IUD's come out with the baby during birth lol

we had quite a few scares..when she is on birth control, her periods are regular save for a day or two.

when she is off the pill, it can vary from a few days, to a couple weeks. those couple weeks are pretty shitty.

I'm happy she's back on the pill, i don't like condoms.

That's an average house here in Portland. So you mean if I didn't have a daughter I would own another house or a McLaren?

Ha. All those years I thought I blew my money on Booze and Cocaine.

Why stop at 18? You'll need another $250k to put them through a good college.

I love kids but I would not be able to handle 5 of them.

Hopefully, he went back to his urologist to address the problem! If conception occurred within ~12 weeks after the procedure, there still could have been some "swimmers" lurking.... And one technique of vasectomy has a higher failure rate than the other; ~ 8% versus <1%. The former procedure can fail due to the recanalization of the vas deferens!!!

My wife and I had a few scares (gf at the time). Now we're ready to have kids...so it's the polar opposite now.

When I was 16 my gf at the time was on birth control, so I rawdogged pretty regularly. The day after we broke up she started getting some hardcore morning sickness, and I was like "ohfuckohfuckohfucksonofabitchGODDAMNITMYLIFEISOVE R." Turned out the culprit was food poisoning from a sketchy pizza joint. Crisis averted, but the uncertainty probably took at least a year off of my life lol
