Close Calls?
The gf is in pittsburgh and we see each other at least once a month. She's been stressing out because she hasnt had her period since I visited her a few weeks ago. A month prior we had switched from bc pills to condoms and we were understandably anxious. She's hoping she's irregular after getting off bc.
I'm like
She gets off the phone tonight crying, then calls back in 10 mins. She peed and found blood.
now I'm like
Who else has had such close calls?

Everything happens for a reason. Perhaps the blood in her pee is just a little spotting and her period is about to start.

Pregnancy scares are no fun

A pregnancy would have been horrible for her. 6 months from now would be her medical boards and job hunting time.
I'm going to do my best to convince her to have butt sex until then.

Having my first child was the best thing that could of ever happened to me. Not just saying that to be cliche. If you're not prepared I can defiantly understand how scared/nervous one could be. We got married and decided to just let whatever happens happen.

WTF I would have a heart attack! GF isn't on the pill so even with the raincoat, I get nervous if her period is late.

Does the IUD have to be placed by the OBGYN or can the patient do the insertion? If it were up to the patient, I can see a lot of IUD malfunction occurring.

I think it has to be done by an OBGYN, I vaguely recall her calling me from her first check-up crying saying something had gone horribly wrong and that she was waiting for the results of pregnancy test.

in hindsight yea, but trust me...that was the last thing on my mind...
hahah yea i don't really remember the hours from when she took the test till her period came. i think there was some talking...i know i was just sitting there like...wtf...
oh another time the condom came off inside her so we just went to the doctor and got the morning after pill. this was in college so it was super easy. awkward part was seeing another couple there that we were close with. they were like what are you doing here...i just muttered something about the gf being sick...they might have guessed though. lol and the nurse/doctor lady didn't even bat an eye when we told her. she just gave us the meds and we went on our way. i'm sure she sees this pregnancy shit daily.

Hot Ass!
Hormonal birth control, i.e., "the pill" can really throw off female hormonal equilibria when it's first started and when it's stopped. So, irregular bleeding is pretty damn common.
Intrauterine devices (IUD's) can only be "installed" by the healthcare provider...which makes sense 'cause I sure as hell couldn't do that myself! There are two types of IUD's: nonhormonal copper device and progesterone-infused device. The copper IUD causes a foreign-body inflammatory response within the uterine cavity where any sperm and/or blastocyst (fertilized egg) is attacked by the immune system. Copper also has spermicidal properties. The progesterone IUD inhibits ovulation, and possibly triggers the same inflammatory pathway.
The progesterone IUD is replaced every year; the copper IUD can stay as long as 6-7 years....24/7!!!
The copper IUD can cause severe cramping and increased bleeding. Both IUD's can be spontaneously expelled or in rare cases, become lodged and perforate the uterus itself! Ectopic pregnancy is more likely due to the fact that the endometrium is inhospitable to blastocyst implantation whereas the fallopian tubes are not! Bacterial infections are possible with an IUD; in particularly, the ones with the string emanating out of the cervical os...
