Anyone doing the Internet dating???
Back on the market again and am not the ougoing, bar person.
Is anyone or has anyone tried Perfect Match??? It's $100 for 4 months and may be worth the money since people who are not serious will not shell out that sort of money.
No flames please.

Consider trying the free sites for a while? $100 is about $100 more expensive than I'd be willing to spend, but that's just me.
FWIW, I met a great girl through craigslist and we were together for a few months... fun while it lasted. You probably won't get many responses being a guy anyway. I know girls that have gotten flooded with emails when they post on free sites though.
What does the $100 get you?

I had great luck on match.com, but then again I was in Atlanta where the women out-number men, so even a geek like me could get laid without too much trouble. Internet dating is a great alternative to the bar scene, but I find that there are more psychos on the internet than in the bar.

I know Yahoo will let me get on for a month free if I register my c.c. Problem with that one is there is not much to pick on. Will have to reserch and see how many nice ones I see before I cough up the cash.
Will have a look at Craiglist.. tks.

Us 'older types' don't normally have the luxury of meeting like-aged people at work & bars are played by the time you hit 25.

normally they don't u just start talking then u meet up and whatever happens, happens. u'd be surprised u think a girl is 17-18 or 19 and then they turn out to be 15 or even 14 .

I'd be wary of eHarmony... They don't exactly run a normal service. They pick and choose who they will allow to use their services, essentially saying that if you're gay, or have other attributes they don't agree with (basically anything non-Christian), you can't use their service.
I'm not gay, but any service that discriminates people based on sexual preference, religion or race is basically a service I do not use.

I've had awesome luck with eHarmony.
Been together over a year now.
Given that I think people should share the same views on life, the personality profiles and other psychological stuff is really neat. When we met we clicked instantlly.

spidey...
you are lucky in that regards. I remember over 3 years ago, trying Yahoo... Boy did I get some whackos.
Do you remember how much it cost? All of them want you to fill out all the detail before they tell you how much it is to join..

Sure there are whackos out there, but you gotta remember something like 75% of women are insane. So every once in a while you'll get one with a level head.
Heck I was matched up with one girl who was pretty cute and the first contact we had she just kept going on and on about her ex-husband. Needless to say I didn't respond.
I'll admit I'm 34 now and meeting quality women who aren't married or psycho or an emotional succubus gets tough.

LOL. So true. The shit we have to go thru. The worse are the ones with the inconsitant personalities. Happy one minute, bitchy the next...

I firmly believe that most women suffer from some mental illness (radical mood swings are a dead giveaway). However there are some that don't - those are the keepers.

Boy, don't be throwing phrases like that around here. You'll find yourself $1200 richer and fat.

I've heard lots of good things about myspace. I have a profile on myspace but I haven't modified my profile or done anything on there, plus I can't access myspace at work. When I'm not at work, I'm only online occasionally.
I did mess around with match about 2 years ago. I met 3 women through match (Southern California area). One was fine but wanted extreme conditions for a relationship that I didn't want to accept. Another girl was cute but chunky, that one fizzled out. The last one was one of those stereotypical online horror stories.
She sent me a picture and the picture showed a hot latin babe with long curly hair. When I went to meet her, I saw a broad that pulled out so much of her hair that you could see her scalp, I mean huge patches. She also looked about a decade older than her profile stated. Needless to say I was horrified.
Just be careful with the online thing and make sure you qualify the girls ahead of time so you can minimize the chance of an unpleasant surprise.

I flat out refused to do it for the longest time. finally caved and tried it. Did J-date (jew) and met my girl. We were each other 1st internet dates ever. And she is the chick I will pop the question to when the time is right, we are currently looking at trying to find a condo worth buying.

I've been looking at a few sites...but since I'm still living with the last girl, I'm not too serious yet

Damn!! Nice to know there are others willing to look into the Internet dating. Kind of depressing when I think about putting myself on the Internet. But I have very limited social life as well as contact with the public (I telecommute).
Thanks for the great responses.

Realistically...what other way could you meet a person of your 'type'? Everyone knows bar-hopping is a joke...other than work/church, what other way is there...speed-dating maybe?
I think internet dating is the most efficient way to meet anyone...you can see, hear and converse with multiple partners at the same time and narrow down your choices a million times faster/easier than you ever could by bar-hopping or blind dates. Plus, you can email someone during the week and know by the weekend if you even want to see them...instead of planning a date on Friday night and losing the whole week if they turn out to be a dud.

Plus...I am getting some great feedback from the eharmony matches...their 'personality profile' seems to really pick some winners. A few sound like my 'perfect' match already, and I've only been really looking at it a few weeks.
