charcoal grill - ideal size?

What size charcoal grill should I be getting?

75% of my grilling is for 1-3 people.
Ocassionally (once every 2 years) I'd like to accomodate mid sized parties (10 people).

Should I just get a small sized (14.5" weber smokey joe), or go with the larger size?

Will having a larger grill make cooking for smaller amounts more difficult or wasteful?

My gut says get a small one and borrow a larger one once every two years from a friend or neighbor...

Definitely go with a smaller one, you don't need the large.

We are planning on using our current grill for charcoal when we buy a new one. It's an inexpensive $100 one from kmart that the inlaws got us 7 years ago. I would go smaller.

Small for sure Larger grill requires more charcoal, which you can always build your mound in one side of the grill. Unless it's gas, then you're wasting propane by not having the rack full lol
