and, oh yeah.... I'm sure someone's going to bring up (again) that PS3's live gaming is free... well, in this case, you really get what you pay for...

I've played every PS3 game I own and rented online (hell I haven't played resistance offline for the last month). What exactly is better about XBOX's live gaming? I've played it a few times and don't really see a benefit to one being better then the other.

Sounds more like a justification to you already owning an Xbox.

The PS3 isn't doing anything the Xbox 360 didn't do when it first came out.

.
to my understanding, with PS3, most games, if not, almost all the games, you can NOT communicate verbally with the other online players...

to me, that's half the fun, is when you strategize with your teammates...

I can't imagine playing live and not being able to tell your teammates where the opponents are (especially in the shooter games)...

I don't have a headset and I haven't tried to hook up my bluetooth ear piece yet so I can't comment. That said, I actually like not having to hear my opponent, so it doesn't bother me. But if what you say is true, that does suck. But I assume it'll be fixed shortly as they couldn't possibly go the whole career of the system with out that feature.

That said, I've been amazed at the updates they've done for resistance online, they are constantly making changes that make online play much better. (I assume they do the same sort of updates for 360 games though)

How can you play an online shooter without talking with your team?

Even I have to talk once in a while

yeah, they do updates all the time too... though, I have to admit, I don't really notice any difference... sometimes I'll notice a shameless ad for a movie or something...

they do new maps for MP games sometimes for a small charge...

...and lots of times you can demo a game before it gets released.

I think it depends on the game. Also you can't talk / chat with your friends playing another game, but with Xbox Live you can since you have a global friends list.

Ya, only game I looked it up for is Resistance.

I'm not exactly sure being able to talk to your friends while they are in another game is necessarily something that makes 360 that much better as IS300eater was leading to, or making it a "you get what you pay for" ordeal

I will agree, Sony does need to work on some things before this system is perfect (you'll also notice, i'm not saying anything negative about the 360)

BTW, Sony is gonna get hosed with the european release. Anyone hear that they changed the system and PS2 games being able to play will be minimal? (actual reports of what percentage is still unknown. The US and Jap PS3 play 98% of old games)

The 360 is a far better gaming platform at the moment. I have all 3 systems (360, PS3 and Wii) so I have a lot of experience playing games on all systems.

- The 360 has a far superior online model. While the downside is the cost for Xbox live, the online features, availability of online enabled games and the download features are fantastic. Look at how many demos are available for the 360 versus the PS3. Almost every 360 game has a demo, while there are only about 7 available today for the PS3. Also look at the Marketplace with HD movie downloads and hundreds of TV shows available.

- The 360 has a far superior game lineup at the moment. Resistance is great, but that is about the only PS3 game really worth it right now. The PS3 libary will get better over time, but the 360 has a year lead and some great exclusives coming up like Halo3.

- Exclusives - Sony isn't paying for 3rd party exclusives any longer due to finacial strains, so almost every major 3rd party game will now be available on the 360 day one, like GTA4, Mercs2, Assasins Creed, etc. On the other side, MS is paying for exclusives like the next Spliter Cell, Rainbow 6 game, Bioshock, etc.

- Media Features - I absolutely love being able to stream music and video from my PC to my 360 so I can watch my videos on my TV. The PS3 is seriously lacking in this department requiring you to use media sticks.

- Graphics - Due to a few downgrades to the PS3 specs to lower costs, (RSX at 500mhz), memory bandwidth cut, the graphics between both systems are essientially a wash.

The PS3 is a good system, but the fact that it costs more than the 360, came out a year later, and offers no major features above and beyond what the 360 offers beyond a HD movie player which I can care less about for a game system.

In and of it's self, it is not a big deal. But it is just one of the many reasons.

The PS3 today has a version of the EE/GS chipset (PS2 chipset) inside which allows it to have hardware backwards compatibility (BC). This is why the percentage of supported games is so high.

The 360 uses software emulation for BC, which is significantly more difficult and the % of compatible games is far lower using this method.

Sony wanted to reduce the cost to manufacture the PS3, so they are removing this chip and going for software BC.

While the benefit is cheaper costs for Sony, BC compatibility will suffer and overall the EU customers are getting screwed because they are paying the same price (actually higher as they only get the 60gb model and the Euro conversion) for a system with less features.

I heard if you want good BC, buy a PS3 soon as this change will be implemented worldwide in the summer.

you could burn it to a CD, you could put it on a USB thumb drive, or put it onto a memory card

thats about it, but what ive noticed is that mpg files come out quite blurry even the high quality ones, it needs to be at least SVCD quality before it looks nice. (and this is on a regular 480i TV, imagine how bad it would look on a 1080p TV! )

Depends upon how big the porn file is

But the easiest thing would be to put it on a USB drive.

I know it doesn't answer your question, but if you had a 360...

I haven't tried it yet because I don't have a lot of time anymroe, but it must be a cinch to add video files and mp3's to the 360 hard drive correct?
