WOW!!! Wii Pricing !!

My wife asked me to check into a Wii system for her and the kids. I said sure..no problem. I've seen ads in the past for $249 and figured with a couple of games to start, maybe spend about $350. Well, try to find a Wii console for $249.....anywhere! Bundles everywhere starting around $450 or so and on up to your heart's desire. Walmart has one for around $670! I don't want to buy a bunch of ad-ons that I might use, so that means I'll have to do an early morning BLACK FRIDAY!!!! AAACCCCHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Anybody else?

Well, so much for waiting in line at Target a year ago, for 2 hours to get mine! I actually made my mind up the night before launch, to go get one.
Yeah, those 'bundles' are ridiculous!

only get a bundle if they let you pick the games

here are some facts to consider

memory cards are a not needed unless you want to be able to back up data not to metion there going to basically be charging you about 30-40 bucks you can get a 2gb sd card for less than 15 on newegg.

wii play costs 45-49 bucks and comes with a controler

now that the system has been out you can find plenty of pre-owned games

i just got a game litterly a few days after it came out new for about 40 WITH shipping

its better to look for them in places like compusa you know places that sell video games but its not a normal goto place.

I see them at target once in a while, non-bundle. They do sell out fast though.

I was lucky as shit to walk into a toy r us on release day and end up getting one. Thanks to the nice cashier who was pissed at her son, so she gave me her reservation

I still cant see why people are waiting in line for a gamecube with a different controller. I bought one, realized it was for children and/or only playable when friends are over and sold that biznitch.

but I found a used 60 gig ps3 on CL las night for 320 dollars. Still no response. Tis the season for my pockets to become bare.

My thoughts exactly.... until I played one for the first time in a house last night (previous experience was limited to store displays). We had a bunch of people and were playing Wii sports. Pretty fun.

I may wait until after the holidays and pick one up. I want to buy Tiger Woods... attach the controller to my 7 iron, and work on my golf game . I'll pick up a Mario Party or something the wife would like and just use it whenever...

Makes you wonder if Nintendo is purposely limiting the supply for the hype...

And be one of the ebay asshats who posted pictures of their boxes and boxes of Wii's when no one else could find them? *They* alone were the cause of the Wii outage last year... and then more stock came in and the ebay idiots couldn't get rid of the units and sold them at retail prices anyway, some probably even took losses...

But ya, buying a ton of them a few months ago would have been good prep had you known and it wouldn't be like the asshats buying all of the units around xmas last year when the Wii was new.

I was pissed trying to get a Wii last year and seeing guys with 15+ Wii's on ebay. Stores should limit the # of Wii's you can purchase. If I was Nintendo I would put a limit on it...

i never understand why people go so nuts over stuff, when a few months down the road it will be cheaper. like those dummies that were paying outrageous prices for the PS3 when it first came out, or the TMX Elmo, the list goes on.

"I want it now, and I don't care how much money I waste!"

Why do you guys want to buy a Wii, it isn't worth anything purchasing right now, and in my opinion neither are PS3 or XBox360. None of them have game titles worth having, with the exception of Halo 3, you can buy any decent game that's on the newer gen systems for PS2 or Xbox.

I have all three, my brother bought them all, lol. We use PS3 the least and the 360 the most, and that's partly because of Halo 3. As of right now all we do with the PS3 is play PS2 games on it. I actually purchase PS2 games that are also availible for the PS3 because they are $15~$20 cheaper, imo its worth the sacrifice in grafics to save a few bucks, its still the same game.

3 reasons: Mario Galaxy, Metroid, Zelda. And the party games are fun with the friends. But yeah, you can't live on the party games for too long.

That interactive wrestling game looks pretty good. I'd never buy fake wrestling but I would love a Wii MMA game.

can you say virtual console

not only do you have the wii but it is also a gamecube,n64,SNES,NES,SEGA genisis, turbo-garfix 16 and NEO-GEO I absolulty love the fact that If i wanted to i could go from playing Madden 08 for example to Tecmo bowl to sonic the headhog to supermario 64 to Fatal Fury without getting up. (yes im that lazy)

but there are plenty more wii titles that are great but their not wii exlusive 1 being Dragon Ball Z BT2 HANDS DOWN THE BEST FIGHTING GAME i have played since the nintendo vs sega days. The only "down" this game has is that it marketed as a "DBZ" instead of simply a bad ass fighting game. but anyone can enjoy this game.

im so glad I camped out last year for that "secret stash" that best buy had one sunday. I still cant believe a YEAR LATER that they're still flying off the shelves.

Its great that some good games are finally coming out for the wii. Its a greay party system but also has some great 1p games. GL to whoever is trying to find out, it seems to vary place to place, I myself have NEVER seen one in stock anywhere in the bay area.

I think the smaller cities have the best luck. My friend's father in law got one in Ft. Myers.

My GF really wanted one for her birthday or Christmas, so I'm thinking "this is a gift that gives back- like a victoria's secret gift card". I go for it and tell her I will get her one. I look half the summer to try and find one for $250, just not happening. So I miss the birthday deadline and I figure by Christmas I will be able to find it. Still no go.

So I finally give up and order from gamestop, some stupid bundle thing for $450. More than I want to pay, but it comes with some stuff so whatever, right? A couple days later they cancel the order on me, out of stock, but I can get the new bundle they have out for $550 + $50 Shipping and handling. I'm like, hell no, and wait around a couple more weeks, finally got one from Walmart for $550, free shipping and handling. I buy it without even looking at what it comes with, while I'm looking at it, I notice it's gone all sold out on me. Good thing I didn't look first, that took all of 10 minutes before being sold.

Moral of the story? I hate Gamestop/EB Games, and these Wii's are really a bitch to get. Fortunately, I now have a happy Girlfriend, and I have a Wii, gotta love Christmas.

I think if you can wait until after the holidays... like spring/summer, you'll have better luck finding one. You're going to pay top dollar if you want one now...
