Save your money and get a new system with PCI Express. There are new PCI Express cards coming out, so that should drive the prices down.

You don't list what you've got in your box now so I don't know if just upgrading the video card would be worthwhile. I would have a hard time recommending to spend $200 on an end-of-life format though.

If your system is really good except for the video then it might make sense. Otherwise, you might be better off dealing with what you have now and dumping $500 - $600 on a substantial upgrade down the road.

Mizouse, I'm in the same boat.. I have a decent rig and AGP setup. I'm going to spend 600 or so over the next few months and get a new board with PCI express and the AMD 64 x2 (dual core)

You might want to rethink getting a dual-core rig. Many games, especially BF2, won't allow you to run both CPUs and just uses one of the CPU processors.

Finally someone with some sense. I see people clammering over the X2 for their gaming rigs. Makes no sense. (Though I'm one to talk, I run a Dual CPU rather than a Dual Core)

Mizouse, with a system like the one you already have, your really gonna need a whole new machine bro. If you had a Ath64 939 board with AGP, then it might be worth it to stick it out. but your not going much higher in that 462 (Athlon XP).

Does anyone know when AMD will start making socket F processors and when the boards will be out? I know its this year, I just dont remember if its like March or more like September or what.

If I were to buy a new rig right now, by the time games take advantage of dual processors, I'd be ready to get another rig.

Damn, atleast you're honest!

Mizouse, don't go with that Sapphire card. If you do upgrade your current computer anything nVidia 6600 and beyond will be great.
