I'm sorry to those of you who like the game, but I'm not all that impressed with the game. The move system is really out of whack yes I know it only invovles two buttons and a direction on the joystick, but therein lies the problem. Its too simple and I end up doing things I never intended to do. I'm more of a SF type guy myself or Dead or Alive.

Also it's not that impressive visually and it hasn't changed since the originals. Why pay $50 for it when you can just play the original on the 64 for the same exact game.

What I'm trying to say is my biggest peeve about the game is that it has gone unchanged since the 64 release and has been the same for 8 years, both graphically and with the battle system. Adding a few characters doesn't merit a purchase.

right Street fighter series has NEVER had the same game released with minor chages or just a few different characters....

I own all 3 and the first two i have gotten all there is to get. The series has progressed in the same way ALL fighters progress Characters/stages/graphics/music. Most franchises stay away from MAJOR format chages in fighting sytem becuse that is what makes the game. name 1 FULLY 3-D street fighter that compares to ANY 2-d in terms of popularity.

I am a SF Fan my self along with many fighters such as Fatal Fury mortal kombat bloody roar killer instintc all them joints though i dont like the DOA/tekken type fighters. that said smash bros simplisity is a strength not a weekness, by the time you master the fighters in a mortal kombat game the next one is out.(I like to know how to fight with all characters available)

at least nintendo spends five minuts to give a game a name other than adding on :turbo, super, super turbo, championship edition, alpha ,EX ,EX+alpha

last street fighter i played ken and ryu had the same old move system wheather they call it an "-ism" or a "groove" its still the same stuff.

I'm sorry to those who don't like the game.

The game is fantastic - no where was there an expectation for Nintendo to drastically change their characters in terms of graphics. Nintendo just isn't that. If you're looking for high graphics, then nintendo isn't the system for you.

I do agree on the odd wii-remote method in terms of fighting, but c'mon now! They give you 4 options in terms of playing mode. Obviously there may be one controller that you like over the other. If you dont like the wii-remote only stance then go for the wii + nunchuck as someone mentioned before. There's also the classic controller and the gamecube controller! My sister uses the wii-remote only and she kicks ass. My husband uses the classic (b/c that's almost like the GC controller - same buttons - same functions). I use a wavebird.

Why would the battle system change really? It is called Super Smash Bros. Brawl for a reason. You brawl....duh?

Anyways....I've unlocked all characters and all stages!

Its amazing how technical the fighting can get. I went to smashboards.com to find out how to unlock all stages and I found out that there are many different techniques to fighting in this game. This game is ridiculous.

Well maybe I just need some practice to adapt to the fighting system, and you're right SF really hasn't changed much since it's initial release on the SNES.

There is much more to smash that what appears on the surface. There are a number of ridiculous advanced techniques that the normal smash player would never get into.

http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wi..._of_techniques

I remember when I first heard about wavedashing and tried reading up on it. It's crazy, too much for me. I heard they "fixed" wavedashing in brawl though.

http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Wavedash

My point is that theres a lot of depth in smash if you really look for it. You're merely taking smash for face value and not appreciating the game fully, give it a chance, you'll learn to love the game.

imo, we finished the game and this game only makes its money when we have reunions or friends over, online is nothing because of how long it take

Actually, the online was a disappointment, but I found it to be better now than ever. I don't ever really have a problem anymore.

Look, at this point, the naysayers really have no more ammunition...sure the 3rd party titles are spotty at best and sure, its nowhere near the graphical powerhouse of PS3 or Xbox 360, but just based on the strength of the 1st party games out now, Wii is a must-own console for any video game fan. The system has not ONE system seller game but at least FOUR!! Any of which, on their own merit owning a Wii. Put all together, and you have months of quality gaming at your fingertips.

Super Mario Galaxy
Metroid Prime 3 - Corruption
Zelda - Twighlight Princess
Super Smash Bros - Brawl
(next month) Mario Kart Wii

simply put, at this point if you have not played those games, you are missing out bigtime. any one of those games may not look as good as xbox 360 games or ps3 games but will EASILY provide more enjoyment and fun than the vast majority of games out for either of the more powerful systems.
Add Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition to this list. The game is awesome. There's a knife fight cut scene toward the end that is pretty fun with the Wii remote.

I just played SSBB for the first time yesterday and I was impressed. I've never played any of the Smash games before so my learning curve is very steep. I could see the potential on how skilled one can become after learning the moves. I played it at my friend's so I won't learn quite yet. I'll probably pick it up later on

For those who have played this online.

How long does it usually take to find players? mine seems to take for ever and i know people are playing this thing. I get paried up at most 2-3 min in DBZ nomatter the time of day and i KNOW more people have smash. I loose my patience b4 i ever got paired up so i have yet to play it online.

Yes if you have someones wii number and such set up you can exchange messeges and what not. then you exchange smash freind codes. and you can play people on your freind list.

we probably should start a AZ smash list or something

I think the pairing issue is that unlike DBZ when they just pair with who ever is availabe, i THINK Smash uses a system that tries to pair with people who would have the least lag
which would explain why it takes so long to match up and why smash matches dont usually have lag (from what i hear)
