Summer Fun: What Game to Get?

Several summers ago, me and my daughter (almost 15 y.o. now) spent a summer conquering Godfather. We still only have a PS2 and a Wii, but we want something again that we can spend three or four hours a today over a summer to beat.

Any suggestions,

Thanks

The game that offers the best combination of story, entertainment, and content is Fallout 3. It's an "old" game now, but it provides so many side missions (when you add the DLCs) that you can easily spend 100 hours on it. You should be able to pick up a used special edition (with several of the DLCs preloaded) for around $20-$30.

If you want a fun puzzle game, I recommend Portal 2. It has both a single and multi-player format. However, to get the best games, you should upgrade to a newer console or switch to PC gaming.

Having only a PS2 and a Wii is gonna limit what you can really play.

Any of the Metroid or Zelda games would be fun if you like action/adventure.

Maybe a Metal Gear Solid game for the PS2 if you haven't played them already? Great stealth game with a superb plot.

Good luck!

GTA 3 and Vice City were both great PS2 titles. Super Mario Galaxy is a fun Wii game

I'm going to guess he doesn't want to play a GTA game with his daughter.

I don't have a Wii, but for PS2. Bully could be a fun pick if you haven't played it. It's not going to take all summer to beat it.

I played one of the Ratchet and Clank games, which was a lot of fun. I think it was Up Your Arsenal.

There are the Final Fantasy games for PS2. I played XII, I think (whichever has the sky pirate kid and rabbit woman, unless that's a common theme). The game was well done, but it's not really my thing. A lot of people love them, of course, and there is quite a bit of leveling up.

The Metal Gears are also great. Another of my favorites was Red Faction. The graphics will look dated compared to later PS2 games, but the gameplay and storyline is excellent. The follow-ups weren't in the same league.

If you get a PS3, there are quite a few epic games out, including the two Bioshocks (they are pretty intense and involve moral decisions on saving or "harvesting" children), Red Dead Redemption (old west), the last Metal Gear and Dragon Age. That's not including the just released Portal 2 and LA Noire.

My biggest recommendation, though, is to try to find a copy of The Orange Box, if you've yet to play it. I think it only comes in PC, PS3 and XBox360 versions. It has Half Life 2, the two follow-up episodes, as well as the first Portal. All are amazingly good.
