Anyone play starcraft lately? i havent played in like 6 years but i was watching a kid play yesterday and the way they play nowadays is to build like 12+ or so command centers/nexus/hives playing a board that has like 2 mineral/8 gas per player. Was wondering was was the strat to building that many bases.

Yea i still play now and then i have no idea why they build so many of nexuses. But command centers are for nukes and more hives more larva more creature to create.

I remember the old school days... I once participated in a national tournament that toured in Miami hosted by an organization called I2e2...
Won 5th place out of 16.. got a tshirt and a vest out of the deal... not bad for a 9th grader I guess.. lol.
well you make tons of workers in the "fastest" maps where u can put up to 50 workers on top of each other to get minerals right next to your command center. zerg would make lots of hives to pump out tons of units but you need to make more hives even in normal strat... i dont see why you would make more than one nexus, maybe so that even if the enemy destroys one you're still good?? but i still dont see the purpose.
and nukes are overrated. one maybe but more than that i would invest more money into making units and swarming and keeping the pressure on the enemy.

Damn, 12 seems stupid. If they are spending that much time expanding then they aren't attacking.
When I played if you could expand once and your opponent didn't or was lagging behind you had a 95% chance of winning. This assumes that you keep attacking. There is no way they could keep up with your resources.
I never got into a game where I or an opponent teched up all the way to nukes.
Makes me want to pull it out again.
