Sony PSP

Worth buying? I played my friend's and its entertaining, esp hacked one with a bunch of games. Wondering what's the opinion on the board about this game system.

I enjoy it.

To me, it's great on the plane because I usually pack a few UMD flicks and a game or two if I get bored of watching a movie.

In regards to hacking it, my best friend did it and has a bunch of stuff on it...and I know he loves his PSP as well...So, up to you. One thing however, I love fighting games (i.e. Street Fighter) and I find the PSP not the greatest ergonomically when it comes to those types of games. I find the device to be better for puzzler and simpler-controlled type games (i.e. LocoRoco, Puzzle Fighter, Gradius)...

I have one and only use it for the long plane rides. I got a really good deal on it so it is worth the coin to me. If I were to pay retail for it, maybe not.

I just bought one and used it on the 12 hour trip to Amsterdam. While it was nice to have something to do, I was very disappointed at the level of sound coming from the included ear buds. I could barely hear Superbad.

I think it's a pretty amazing device. The games look good and its easy to navigate from one task to another.

Like Ashburner said though, the volume is too low.

I would recommend getting it if you travel a lot, they come in handy on long trips.

I was thinking about buying the Nintendo DS over the PSP.... Not sure though!
The really downside I have about the PSP is that it's so freaking hard to play racing games! The analog stick really feels uncomfortable playing those games.

Overall, which do you guys think is better, the DS or PSP?

I have a DS that rarely play...and I owned a PSP for about 2 hours when they first came out. I returned it...but I have been a PS fan, and the PSP just reminded me of that.

DS also has wireless, more fun puzzle games, whatever. I'll probably start playing zelda again on my flight to India in a few weeks. and I'm considering getting the new guitar hero tour for it as well.

I think i'm just going to buy the DS. It's not fun playing a PSP if it hurts my wrists.

Ds > Psp

I finally bought a DS and I love it..

I bought my daughter the Nintendogs game and it is actually fun, I play it a lot more than I thought I would. Little cool feature. You can play with your dog with bubbles. How you make the bubbles is the cool part. You blow into the mic. I was amazed when i saw that. I mean, who thinks of that stuff...

I played the Guitar Hero game a couple days ago at Toys R us. A little weird.

Just get metal gear solid already unless you don't like the MGS series. The demo for phantasy star online is out, also you can buy the Japanese version if you understand it. Um the Final Fantasy games are also pretty good.

Great game. Patapon is cool too. Do you like golf? Hot Shots Golf 2 is awesome and you can play online finally.

Silent Hill is pretty good if you're into that type of game
Jeanne d'Arc is a great game also, plays like Final Fantasy Tactics.

Crisis Core I didn't like so much, I sold it a week after I bought it. Could not get into it

I've been playing Disgaea a lot... addicting. Beat Crisis Core and plan to do so again one day.
