SLI without SLI

SLI without SLI
What makes the Asus Extreme N7800 GT Dual somewhat unique is that this card sports a pair of NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT GPUs and 512MB of GDDR3 RAM on a single PCB. The Extreme N7800 GT Dual essentially simulates a two-card GeForce 7800 GT SLI configuration with a single card.

Damn... I wonder how hot this thing gets.
I've read that the only problem with current SLI setups is that they are so dependent on CPU use. And with the current CPUs on the market, the full potential of SLI cannot be achieved.
Anyone else know more?

it is tight, but its the same as having a dual core processor instead of two truly seperate processors. the hardware/cooling/power/all that stuff on one board cant match up to the potential of two individual boards...just not enough space to fit everything well
is that shielded black thing an EXTERNAL power source???? thats so nuts

wow...that makes no sense but is true
the gtx sli setup has a faster clock in both fields and runs cooler but is still about the same
edit: they use a gtx with a 430/1.2 clock (to make their gt equivalent to a gtx) vs the 480/1.35 clock of most of the gtx boards so it makes it look better...but shit, thats still impressive!
