I know people probably hate posts that ask the above question because it's been asked a million times and sparks an endless debate, but I was going to make a post asking the same thing. I'm interested in seeing opinions at this point in time in the next gen console cycle, now that the market has had some time to mature.

cant really go wrong with either. 360 has more games right now, but ps3 has a pretty solid selection thus far, and has some great titles being released soon.

A month ago, I would be all for the PS3, ,but there just isn't anything out now that warrants buying the system. If you are used to playing Sony exclusives (MGS, GT) then I would say buy one and wait a few months for the really good games to come.

I bought a 360 about 2 weeks ago and I love it. I was a die hard Sony fan, never played Xbox or 360 ever in my life. Xbox live is insane, you can play pretty much any game online. Co-op mode in most games is a lot of fun. Plus, a premium runs only $279 now, I dont think the Elite is needed unless you are going to download alot of stuff, 20gb is enough for my needs.

So, either buy a PS3 now and play a few good games or get a 360 and have more options now and get a PS3 later.

wii is garbage.

Ps3 has alot of titles to offer, most of which are available on the 360. I do enjoy the ps3 OS more. Ps3 is quicker, has a much better controller, and has free online.

To each his own though. like i said, you cant really go wrong with either.

No offense, but I slap this question in the same pile as "LCD, plasma, or DLP?", "War or no war in Iraq?", "BMW 3 coupe or Infiniti G37 coupe?"...

It's been beaten to death more than you will be if I ever see you in an UT free-for-all game.

In short: Both systems are in my books equal. Sure, add the Wii in there. Depends on what you like and what you WANT out of a system.

THEN...you have the generalized statements like these which proclaim the "imminent" death of the PS3...

For Water-S I recommend one of those Leapfrog game systems. That seems about your speed.

I've played all three and here is my conclusion...

the wii is just plain old fashioned fun. the way you thought you would be playing games at this pointwhen you where playing the nes or snes. it's interactive and is differnet and FUN. It has the classics you fell in love with when you where 5, 10, 15 and so on.

360- Microsoft has it's shoooters for people who need to kill things, forza to compensate for GT, and is slowing building it's own RPGs. solid unit with more games and better extras IMO. I have a wireless router setup so I can play music from my coputer on my 360 while playing games.

ps3 -has no games to pull away from the wii's fun or microsofts depth, and blue-ray will probably be the 8-track while hd-dvd will be the cd. If your sole purpase in gaming is to play Final fantasy, GT, and MGS AND have the time to wait around for them then go ahead. The ps3 will be a solid system.

in the end if your buying now decide on what games you wana play now. I would go with a wii or 360 for now and in 6-12 months buy a ps3

Pretty much agree with what is said here, expect for the stuff about blue-ray (because I don't know or care at this point).

For me, I only have time for 1 game...halo 3. I will likely buy a wii and a couple of family style games so that I can play with the fam. I really don't see a need for PS3 personally, but if you are tied to its gaming franchises, then buy it and be happy.

if you ask GameStop/EB Games employees this question I'd say 10/10 of them will say 360... I don't think they make commission or anything like that... They deal games all day long, know what's coming out... I don't think they are bias... even if there were just a little... it's still enough to lean towards the 360. PS3 will be behind for a long time... and plus with the 360 you can buy a ton of either used games or new games under the "Platinum Series" for cheap! A lot of those games, tho a year or 2 old are still great! That alone is enough reason to get the 360

I choose 360.

Eventhough I never really been a Playstation fan, I was originally planning on getting both. But that changed after a number of things concerning Sony and the PS3. I'm not going to start a debate, so I won't get into it any further.

Well, crap. My gut tells me that the 360 is the way to go if I'm buying today. But I'm hung up on one game for the PS3, MLB: The Show. I absolutely love baseball and this game is the only way to go when it comes to that, and it is a system seller for me. But my brain says that I shouldn't let one game dictate the decision. Damn Sony and MS!

im in the same boat daniel. im holding out for a ps3 simply because of one or two titles (grand turismo)

im also not a fan of xbox 360 controls, load times, or just the overall feeeling of the system, plus i know alot of people who have had 360s fry on them. but there are so many good games on this system that are not offered on ps3.

im tempted just to ball out and buy both.

does anyone have any information regarding xbox360 vs ps3 in terms of Grand Theft Auto IV. that game is the main game i will be playing, and if its confirmed they are the exact same i might just get a 360. but it feels kind of weird thinking about playing GTA on the 360, after playing it for years on the playstation. if someone can weigh in on this id be greatful, because im definately going to cop either system by the end of november for my winter break hibernation.

no one's really going to be able to tell what the difference are (GTA4), until it comes out... It's really hard to tell... all I know is, I have Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 on the 360 and out of curiosity, I downloaded the demo for the PS3 and graphics wise... I really couldn't tell the difference but because I'm so used to the layout of the controls on the 360... it felt weird... and also NO rumble... But isn't the PS3 bringing back rumble? I remember reading a review on Rainbow Six-Vegas (PS3)... though it got a good rating... I remember they had something negative to say about the PS3 version... I can't recall what it was... but basically what I'm gettin' at is... BUY the 360 before the PS3 if you're gonna eventually get both... Like I've been telling everyone, waaaaaaaaay more better games right now for the 360 and many can be had for cheap (either used copies @ GameStop/EB Games or eBay). I've gone back to replay Rainbow Six-Vegas and had forgotten what an awesome game it was... But starting tomorrow it's gonna be Call Of Duty 4 for a long time to come

Just keep it in a venitlated place (i.e., not enclosed in a wall unit where no air gets to it). Buy the clip on fan and if it gets hot still, point a little desk fan at it. I got the clip on fan and it runs really cool. Once you close it in, the heat gets crazy and you will get 2 red lights and have to turn it off for a few.

I've owned two xboxs, an original when it first came out and an elite now.

Never had an issue with either. As pebel said, just leave it in an open area where it can get air circulation. i dont even use one of those stupid 3rd party fans.

I would not buy a used system unless it's one of the newer system with the HDMI port.

Well, I got my 360, plugged it in, turned it on - immediate 3 red lights.

I read somewhere that some powerstrips/surge protectors piss off the power supply so I connected it straight to the wall - didn't help. So then I rechecked the connection and I think the power cable was a little loose. I unplugged it from the xbox, plugged it back in, and all is well.

Gotta love generic error codes.
