Try the charged essence attacks. I usually kill the archer and abosrb that orb and kill another zombie, then continue down the line. They move slow enough that you can get away with it.

Or if its the smaller baddies, I usually stick with the flails. Once you get the weapon swinging fast and can continuously pull off the Cremator, its almost like a shield and they can't sneak up and hit you from behind when your beating up on one of them.

I'm fighting the alternator and he keeps finishing me off with the rush move. This boss fight seems to be easier, but as soon as I get close I get with the rush and it takes off a lot...

after you beat alma, the next stage's boss. The same level where you have to go through the ritual room...

The Vigoorian Flails are the bladed nunchunks I was raving about earlier. Great weapons...!

They are found (if I remember correctly) in the crypts.

Good...so, you do have the bladed-chucks then...?

The Windmill Shuriken can be found outside of Han's Bar right after Rachel's stage. And no, Alma <> Rachel...although, they are sisters.

Well, I wouldn't say so...but, the Windmill Shuriken is a great weapon as it is quite strong...I often use it as a final move to accompany my combo...

When I fought this guy I just stayed in close and used block/roll a lot. It seemed to keep the chopper at bay somewhat too. Oh and fry him with the Inferno ninpo.

Hrm...Alternator is pretty much Dynamo (the fatso in the blimp) right?

Approach the fight the same way. Combo slices...block when he's about to hit and roll out of the way right after his attack is blocked...?

I'm not verygood at rolling, but looks ike I should master it anyway...after reading both of your advice posts, i'll prolly beat him on the first try tonight and kick myself in the ass...so what is this secret with Alma now? come on...share with the asian brother...

G'luck...!

The thing with Alma is that well, she's not dead. And yeah...you're gonna hafta deal with her again soon.

But, if it makes you feel better, her second time round shouldn't be too hard...unless the Sigma team decided to jack up her AI and difficulty.

I take it you haven't gotten up to her the second time yet? Isn't Sigma supposed to be way harder than black anyway? And as for her being alive...dammit...hahaha...at least there's better bosses along the way....helicopters FTW!

Well, as hard as Alma was...I hate the tank the chopper battles the most. So, go figure.

So i started playing this last night. Haven't yet made it through the first chapter b/c I had to wake up early today. It's ridiculously hard, having never played any of the Ninja Gaiden games before.

And I really need to start using different combos. I find myself using the same two or three which gets my ass handed to me pretty quickly

You need to know the flying dashing attack.

And blocking is key.

Using repetitive combos is not necessarily a BAD thing. But, know when to block and roll is more important.

To me, it sounds like you're just button mashing. This game takes an element of thinking...If the enemy blocks your attack. Be ready to block right away and roll out; then retry your combo.

Arrows, explosive and with the ASFDS cores. Lots. When the guy is shooting you with the machine gun, use the explosive arrows and he retreats into the tank. Then switch to the ASFDS arrows and you will kill the tank pretty quick. And you can shoot them while jumping now, so its even easier!

Yeah, I agree, especially when they appear out of nowhere. I just hung out near the crumbled doorway and waited for them and the boss to attack. Whenever the boss charged then turned around, I sliced at the horse as much as I could. Then I sat and blocked cause those floating guys would attack, and they were wide open after they got in close for an attack, so I killed them for the blue life orbs.

hahaha...bring it on gamers...this game has whupped everyone at least a few times...blackglass...i was using your tactic there and it was working...just time consuming... uuzman...yeah, this game I have noticed uses a lot of combo variations, but if you really sit down and learn the combos, they are each applicable to different groups of enemies..

I'm definitely doing a lot of button mashing. Most of my time playing games has been spent on sports and driving games, and while those definitely aren't button mashing games, they don't involve the level of coordination and combos required here. I just have to be patient I guess, cuz so far I really like the game.

And keep at it. This game makes no excuses about easing a person into it. I recall reading awhile ago how the team designers wanted to grab you by the throat and you repeatedly...

...hence my theory that this game is a rite of manhood.

And oh yeah...if you die a few times, it's all good. There's not a single one of the experienced ones who haven't had their @$$es handed to them.

Also...a bit of luck is a good thing.
