PS3: Media Sharing? (Tversity and others)
PS3: Media Sharing? (Tversity and others)
What do you guys use to stream media to your PS3 from your PC? I had downloaded a program called Tversity which was really easy to use and set up, and worked pretty well but apparently it contained a torjan horse according to AVG, I'm not sure if it was just detected as that because of how it works or what but I removed it just to be safe.
Anyways I understand one can use Windows Media player 11 too, but set up seems to be a PITA and it appears it's functionality may not be as good as Tversity. Is there anything else out there I should check out that you guys are using?
Give me the down low please.

Hmmm, I just configured WMP11, So far it seems to Jive with the PS3 pretty well, all the videos I tried played back just fine. On a side not, my sammy 750 recognized the media share but could not play any of the files.

i remember when the ps3 was first patched to stream stuff over the network it wouldnt play back xvid and divx files
as for the DLNA with the 750 it seems pretty lame, searching around it appears your pretty much stuck using samsungs piss poor software if you plan to use it. I'll be posting findings about the TV in that thread though.
Yeah I did the same. The GF did it for me in about 5 minutes and everything works great. Playing music and using the Ps3's sunrise background in the AM makes getting ready for work a lil easier!
Haven't tried yet but see this for .mkv

I have Tversity but I'm having an issue with it. I can't see my files. At first it worked but then I changed the folders. It shows the folders in the PS3 but they're empty. And I've refreshed them a few times.

Good thing the ps3 does this too cause it be annoying having to switch on the 360 just watch some thing. I got a feeling that now that my ps3 is fixed that my 360 is gonna collect dust
Well just to update, I gave tversity another go and it works great, much better than WMP11 now the problem is going to be devising a storage solution for all the media I'm downloading. Looks like I'm going to need a massive RAID array as I have like of 400 DVDs that I want to rip and never see the physical media again. I estimate that if I rip them to a file size of 700mb I'll need about 3TB of space
ehh you sure about that?
700MB * 400 movies = 280,000MB or ~280GB
if you rip them as a full DVD assuming that they are all DVD9's then:
8.54GB * 400 movies = 3416GB or ~3.416TB
700MB * 400 movies = 280,000MB or ~280GB

8.54GB * 400 movies = 3416GB or ~3.416TB
